HAMBURG / BLACK FOREST, June 15, 2026

TANNENBLUT was recently featured in The Jerusalem Post for its initiative to support Jewish life in Spain through a limited collector's edition of kosher Black Forest gin. The article highlights how a heritage-based project can contribute to addressing contemporary social challenges, particularly the rise of antisemitism across Europe.

Written by journalist Marion Fischel, the feature explores the origins of TANNENBLUT, its connection to a family distilling tradition dating back to 1873, and its mission to combine entrepreneurship, cultural preservation, and practical support for Jewish communities.

The limited collector's edition consists of 3,000 individually numbered bottles of kosher Black Forest gin. Each bottle is handcrafted, wax-sealed, and designed as a collectible object that combines history, symbolism, and craftsmanship. The project was initiated by Dr. Raphael Nagel (LL.M.) and draws inspiration from the legacy of his ancestor Jakob Ferdinand Nagel, whose spirits business became one of the most successful enterprises of its kind in nineteenth-century Central Europe.

While the collection is rooted in a long family tradition, its purpose is firmly focused on the present. TANNENBLUT was created not merely as a luxury product but as a platform that seeks to preserve heritage while supporting communities facing growing social challenges.

A central element of the initiative is its commitment to dedicate 60 percent of profits from the collector's edition to programs that strengthen Jewish life in Spain. These funds are intended to support legal assistance for individuals affected by antisemitic incidents, psychological support services, educational initiatives, and projects that promote awareness, resilience, and community engagement.

According to figures referenced in The Jerusalem Post article, antisemitic incidents in Spain have increased dramatically in recent years, creating concern among Jewish organizations and community leaders. Against this backdrop, TANNENBLUT seeks to demonstrate that private initiatives and economic participation can play a constructive role alongside public institutions and civil society organizations.

"We believe that businesses can carry meaning beyond commercial transactions," said Dr. Raphael Nagel (LL.M.). "Products can create conversations, preserve history, and help support causes that matter. We wanted to build something that combines heritage with responsibility."

The project also extends beyond the collector's edition itself. TANNENBLUT includes publications focused on themes such as family history, identity, memory, Jewish heritage, and antisemitism. Together, these elements form a broader initiative designed to encourage discussion, education, and long-term engagement.

The attention received from The Jerusalem Post reflects a wider trend within the global luxury and collectibles market. Increasingly, collectors are seeking products that offer more than rarity or exclusivity. Authenticity, provenance, cultural significance, and social impact have become important considerations for buyers who want their purchases to reflect personal values as well as personal interests.

For TANNENBLUT, this recognition represents an opportunity to continue expanding awareness of the initiative's mission and to demonstrate how heritage projects can create meaningful social contributions. The project aims to show that tradition and responsibility are not opposing concepts but can work together to preserve history while supporting communities in the present.

We would like to thank Marion Fischel and The Jerusalem Post for their thoughtful coverage and for providing an opportunity to share the story behind our initiative with readers around the world.
