Hanseatic city features seven companies at shared Hamburg stand

Hamburg, 11 August 2009: Hamburg’s games companies are back in force this year at Europe’s leading digital gaming industry show. Following the move of the event from Leipzig to the Rhineland, the initiative gamecity:Hamburg will host a joint appearance at gamescom 2009 in Cologne from August 19 to 22. Co-participants at the shared stand are Hamburg-based gamigo AG, FISHLABS Entertainment GmbH, INTENIUM GmbH, northworks Software GmbH, Powerflasher GmbH, SnapDragon Games GmbH, toneworx GmbH and Taylor Wessing.

The joint appearance organized by gamecity:Hamburg, Germany’s largest regional network of the gaming industry, has become something of an institution at the major domestic and international digital gaming trade shows. This year, the 168-sqm stand in Hall 4.2, No. L41/M40, features eight different companies from the Hanseatic hotbed of game design, providing interested visitors with first-hand information about the developers and their products as well as the multi-tiered support available to companies in Hamburg.

A special highlight of gamecity:Hamburg’s yearly trade show activities is the traditional Gamecity Fish Sandwich Reception. At 12 noon on Friday, August 21, the initiative’s project directors will welcome industry professionals and enthusiasts to a casual get-together away from the hectic trade fair business, where they can make new contacts in a relaxed setting while enjoying typical northern German fish sandwiches and tasty beer brewed in Hamburg.

“Hamburg is an immensely popular location for games companies. This is evident in the number of digital gaming enterprises setting up bases in the Hanseatic city,” as gamecity:Hamburg project director Stefan Klein points out. “Our shared booth allows us to give the expert audience a comprehensive presentation of the business environment and the numerous projects to promote games companies in Hamburg. We look forward to having interesting and inspiring conversations and hope that we may soon be able to bid new game developers a warm welcome in our city.”
