From Model to Businesswoman: Greta Muenzenberg's Startup

We've known Greta Muenzenberg since shortly after her birth in 1998, because she is the niece of our former business partner Gunther and the daughter of our IT specialist Eckart. Just 10 years ago, she was modeling for us in the workshop, in the showroom, and even at client sites, but then we didn't see her as often.

But a few weeks ago, I first learned about her new company, Marketingdesign Muenzenberg, via LinkedIn and, of course, immediately checked out her website. To find out exactly what she does, we met up again in Unterkrumbach, and I'm very impressed by Muenzenberg's new business venture, launched exactly 38 years after the founding of Moebelmacher. I was 26 in 1988, Gunther was 31, and she is 27 today.

With her startup, she has forged her own path and is now successfully self-employed as a project organizer for POS furniture and trade show structures. What exactly does that entail? "POS" stands for "Point of Sale" and encompasses all elements that effectively showcase products, whether in retail, at trade shows, or for internal presentation purposes. Trade show constructions go a step further; here, a holistic concept is created that ranges from spatial design and lighting to optimal product presentation. In the future, this could even include trade show booths made of solid wood--we've already brought some of those to life.

As a one-woman agency, Greta offers her clients a decisive advantage: lean structures without the high costs of traditional agencies, such as those for staff or large office spaces. As a trained technical product designer, she can develop concepts that are practical and production-oriented from the very beginning. She visually represents the client's project as a realistic 3D model so that they can envision a clear picture of the final result even during the development phase.

With over five years of experience in project management and collaboration with renowned companies such as the well-known outdoor equipment manufacturer Ortlieb, she brings comprehensive expertise to her projects. We recommend that our many business clients reach out to her, and we'd be thrilled if, in addition to countless "standard" requests, they'd also send her inquiries for solid wood products--since we could manufacture these ideas directly from her designs on our CNC machine.

Of course, we old-timers can't resist offering a bit of marketing advice. We suggest she make a few things out of carbon fiber and then name the company Greta-Carbo, hehe.

The company was founded in 1988 in Hersbruck near Nuremberg as a holistically oriented furniture manufacturer. In 1997, the newly established Die Moebelmacher GmbH, with around 15 employees by then, moved into the eco-friendly new building in Unterkrumbach, where custom-made furniture and kitchens are crafted from solid wood sourced in the region.
The product range is complemented by complete furnishings for kitchens, living spaces, and home offices--from lighting and upholstered furniture to curtains and even hi-fi systems made from local wood. They have been awarded the City of Nuremberg Sustainability Prize, named Environmental Ambassadors of Bavaria, won the Thalhofer Prize, and since receiving the 2005 Craftsmanship Award, they have been ranked among the seven best German craft businesses. In 2010, they won the German Local Sustainability Prize. In 2021 and 2022, they were nominated for the Lammsbraeu Sustainability Award and the German Sustainability Award "Local Hero," as well as in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, they won the IGR Ergonomics Innovation Award, and in 2024, their workshop was named the most beautiful in Germany by the jury of the trade journal DDS. In 2025, they won the German Sustainability Award in the Furniture and Interior Design category.
