Donald Deibler of Pennsylvania is calling on individuals to step up and support youth sports programs in their local communities.
Donald Deibler, business owner and Business Manager at All Stars Ice Cream & Cafe Bakery, is raising awareness about the importance of youth sports and the role communities play in keeping these programs accessible.

Through his work as a volunteer coach and local business leader, Deibler is encouraging individuals to take a more active role in supporting youth athletics.

"Kids need support and structure," Deibler says. "If we can help with that, we should. It's not complicated."

Why Youth Sports Are Declining

Youth sports participation has been steadily dropping across North America. Research shows that nearly 1 in 3 children quit organized sports by age 13, often due to rising costs, limited access, or lack of community support.

At the same time, the average family now spends hundreds to thousands of dollars per year on youth sports, making it harder for many kids to stay involved.

Deibler sees these challenges up close through his involvement with programs like Tri Valley Little League.

"You see kids who want to play, but they need the opportunity," he says. "That's where the community comes in."

A Coach's Perspective on Impact

Deibler volunteers as a youth sports coach, where he works directly with young athletes. For him, the value of sports goes far beyond the field.

"It's not just about winning," he says. "It's about discipline, teamwork, and learning how to handle challenges."

He believes these lessons stay with kids long after the season ends.

"Sports give kids something to be part of," he adds. "That matters more than people realize."

The Role of Local Support

Deibler also helps ensure that his businesses contribute to youth sports efforts through donations and sponsorships. But he is quick to point out that businesses cannot do it alone.

"Being part of a town means showing up," he says. "Not just as a business, but as a person."

According to community studies, local support-whether through volunteering, attending games, or small donations-can significantly increase participation rates and program sustainability.

What People Can Do to Help Youth Sports

Deibler encourages individuals to take simple, practical steps to support youth sports in their area:

*
Volunteer as a coach or assistant

*
Donate equipment or funds to local teams

*
Attend games and community events

*
Encourage kids to stay active and involved

"You don't have to do everything," he says. "Just do something. It adds up."

Call to Action

Deibler is asking individuals to look at their own communities and find ways to get involved.

"Communities don't build themselves," he says. "If you care about the next generation, you have to show up for them."
