Pamela Waggoner Good's Memoir He Never Let Go Wins International Impact Book Award for Transformative Stories
In He Never Let Go , Good shares a deeply personal account of growing up in a household shaped by mental illness. Raised by a mother suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, she faced rejection, shame, abandonment, and isolation from early age. Determined to survive, she built a life defined by perfectionism and relentless effort, projecting strength to the outside world while quietly carrying unresolved trauma beneath the surface.
As Good recounts in the book, years of maintaining emotional barriers and self-protective habits eventually led to a breaking point where the truth she had long suppressed could no longer be ignored.
What follows is a journey toward resilience, faith, and the difficult work of confronting past wounds. Drawing from her Christian faith, Good reflects on how spiritual reflecting, self-honesty, and forgiveness became central to her healing. The book is written for individuals who have experienced rejection, emotional pain, or prolonged seasons of survival rather than truly living. Good emphasizes that healing begins with recognizing one's inherent worth and embracing the belief that every person is loved, accepted, and created with purpose.
"I wrote this book for people who feel trapped by their past or burdened by secrets," said Pamela Waggoner Good. In addition to writing, Good shares her story through speaking engagements and community events. She recently spoke at a MomCo gathering at Flatirons Community Church in Lafayette, Colorado, and is scheduled to speak at the Canon City Public Library on April 11, where she will discuss healing, faith, and resilience. Good has also appeared on several podcasts to discuss the themes explored in the memoir.
