DAVIES TURNER IRELAND STRENGTHENS SENIOR MANAGEMENT

05-06-2008 04:51 PM CET | Logistics & Transport

Press release from: Davies Turner

The Davies Turner Group has strengthened the senior management of its subsidiary in Ireland with the appointment of Ciaran Delmar and John Culligan as Joint Managing Directors of Davies Turner Ireland Ltd. Both have joined from senior roles with Expeditors Ireland.

Philip Stephenson, Joint Managing Director of the Davies Turner Group, says: “These appointments show our customers and the market that we are serious in our ambitions to further enhance our presence in Ireland. This is a definite move by us to beef up our management in the country”.

Ciaran Delmar adds: “In recent years, significant structural changes in the freight industry have seen many mergers and acquisitions which we believe have resulted in a loss of focus on the importance of good customer service. Quite rightly, customers expect consistently high service standards and the ‘feel good’ factor from the partnership with their chosen freight services provider.

“Davies Turner is a fourth generation family business. Its tradition of pioneering customer service remains constant, which is why the company is the leading independent freight forwarder in the UK today. Our vision is to demonstrate these qualities to Irish shippers, to present Davies Turner Ireland as a real alternative to the competition and see the company develop into Ireland’s leading independent operator.”

From its logistics warehouse close to Dublin International Airport, Davies Turner Ireland provides a multimodal portfolio of trailer, air cargo and oceanfreight services. Most of the company’s international trailer services are direct to and from the UK and mainland Europe, as well as air and oceanfreight forwarding services to and from Asia, North America and the Middle East. Specialist trailer operations serve the Turkish and Moroccan markets, with a particular emphasis on meeting the needs of companies involved in High Street retail and apparel trades.

Adds Philip Stephenson: “I have no doubt that Ciaran and John will continue the fine work of our Line Manager for Ireland, Fred Stephens, who recently retired. Fred managed the development of Davies Turner’s growing presence in the Irish market following the opening of our freight hub in Dublin some 11 years ago.”
