Davies Turner Air Cargo receives AEO certificate

06-27-2008 01:59 PM CET | Logistics & Transport

Press release from: Davies Turner

Davies Turner Air Cargo has been officially presented with its Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certificate by HM Revenue & Customs. The airfreight forwarder recently became the one of the first AEOs in Europe.

Attached is a photo taken at a recent official presentation ceremony which took place at HM Treasury. It shows left to right: Denham Baxter (Managing Director - Davies Turner Air Cargo); Peter Castree (Chairman - Davies Turner Air Cargo); Doug Tweddle (Director, Customs and International, HM Revenue and Customs) and Peter Quantrill (Director General, British International Freight Association).

The AEO scheme is one of a series of measures being coordinated by the World Customs Organisation as part of a multi-layered approach to facilitating trade and making supply chains more secure and controlled. In adopting the AEO regime, the EU is aligning with similar measures introduced by other countries, including the USA. The scheme provides legitimate businesses with a quality mark, which will demonstrate that their internal controls and procedures are efficient and compliant.

Davies Turner says that some of the tangible benefits of being AEO accredited include fewer physical and documentary examinations of cargo, priority use of non-intrusive inspection techniques when examination is required, priority processing by Customs when security is heightened and, Preferred Trader eligibility applies.
