"The GreatWhiteWallOfWaste": monumental sign against the throwaway society
Regensburg, January 02, 2026 - In the current art exhibition at the Immobilien Lounge Regensburg, one work is currently attracting particular attention:The monumental installation "The GreatWhiteWallOfWaste" by the artist collective ITSHE & Josef from the Pitztal Valley. The work provocatively addresses the tension between modern urban development, consumerism and ecological responsibility.
A memorial made from the remnants of everyday life:
"The GreatWhiteWallOfWaste" is an expansive work consisting of discarded materials and urban waste from the printing industry, aestheticized by a uniform, sterile white polystyrene fa?ade. The artist group ITSHE and JosefausdemPitztal use the clinical purity of the color white to "mask" the mass of hidden waste - a direct allusion to the often smooth surfaces of the modern (real estate) world, behind which the ecological costs of our way of life disappear. The modern installation is brought into the spotlight by means of illumination, depending on noise (e.g. music) as well as various scenery in front of it.
The whole thing can also be followed online via livestream.
Art in dialog with the real estate industry:
The placement in the Immobilien Lounge Regensburg was chosen deliberately. In an environment that normally focuses on value appreciation and architecture, the work forms a stark contrast.
"We are delighted to present JosefausdemPitztal and the ITSHE collective, an artist who not only leads the discourse on sustainability in urban space, but makes it physically tangible," say the organizers of the Immobilien Lounge.
About the artists:
The art collective ITSHE is a group of artists:inside that deals with installations, performance and the examination of people, materials and the environment, often with a focus on recycling, the future and the interface of art and architecture, founded by Christina Hierl, who is also a partner in the Regensburg architecture firm studio emde, and who have a base in the former Prinz-Luitpold-Kaserne (PLK). They are known for their interactive, thought-provoking works.
Key points:
Artistic focus: ITSHE creates installations and performances that make hidden aspects visible and address the relationship between humans, materials and the environment, exploring recycling, urban ruin symbolism and chance/order.
Founding and members: The collective was co-founded by Christina Hierl, who also runs the architecture firm studio emde in Regensburg.
Location:
They run a studio in the former Prinz-Luitpold-Kaserne (PLK) in Regensburg.
Motto: A well-known work addresses the relationship between man and machine with the title "IT - SHE - HE'S DUO/PLAY ONE", which underlines the multi-layered nature of their work.
Interdisciplinary: ITSHE works at the intersection of art and architecture and strives to reflect the needs and interaction with the built environment through her art.
