Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - September 1, 2025 - Hot jazz, cooler nights - September marks the start of a busy fall for The Jazz Sanctuary, Philadelphia's most distinctive performing arts nonprofit, with six free concerts on the slate.

Now in its 14th year, The Jazz Sanctuary has presented 890 free concerts across the Greater Philadelphia region, bringing communities together through live music in churches, community centers, and public spaces.

This September continues that tradition, with performances that highlight the artistry of The Jazz Sanctuary's musicians and performers, and the welcoming spirit of its signature "Jazz & Joe" series.

The upcoming slate of concerts includes:
• Sunday, September 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church (654 N. Easton Rd.,

Alan Segal, founder and Executive Director of The Jazz Sanctuary, reflected on the significance of this busy September schedule and the audiences who continue to support the group.

"September always marks a lively time for us, and this month is no exception - with concerts in Glenside, Buckingham, Spring House, Norristown, Devon, and Old City Philadelphia. The warmth and attention of our audiences inspire us to play at our very best," Segal said.

Segal also credited the ensemble of musicians who have created The Jazz Sanctuary's signature sound for 14 years.

"Our quintet has been praised as professional, wonderful, and, most importantly, really good musicians. I'm deeply grateful to James Dell'Orefice on piano, Randy Sutin on vibes, Leon Jordan Sr. on drums, and Eddie Etkins, our saxophonist who also curates our musical selections," noted Segal. "Their artistry and dedication are at the heart of what we do."

Looking ahead, Segal noted that The Jazz Sanctuary has already booked 60 concerts for 2025 and is actively building its schedule for 2026.

"Next year marks our 15th anniversary - and my 85th birthday - and we plan to celebrate with music to soothe the soul and surprises along the way. By the end of 2026, we'll be approaching our 1,000th performance - a milestone we could not reach without the encouragement of our audiences and partners," Segal stated.

With six free concerts scheduled throughout September, The Jazz Sanctuary continues its mission of bringing high-quality live jazz to communities across the Greater Philadelphia region. Audiences are invited to enjoy an evening of music, coffee, and conversation at upcoming "Jazz & Joe" performances or join in the celebration at one of the ensemble's outdoor concerts.

As the group looks ahead to its 15th anniversary in 2026 - and founder Alan Segal's 85th birthday - The Jazz Sanctuary remains committed to presenting live music that builds community, fosters connection, and inspires audiences of all ages.

The Jazz Sanctuary's continued success is made possible by more than 100 generous individual donors and corporate sponsors - including Compass Ion Advisors, Philadelphia Federal Credit Union, Quantum Think, Alan J. Segal LLC, and DMG Global - whose support helps keep jazz free, live, and thriving across the region.
