Four ways to rescue January

Press release from: MMD

/ PR Agency: united communications GmbH

Amsterdam, 16 January 2017 – Of all the months of the year, January has precious little going for it. Holiday festivities are over, the tree has been taken down and the glitter swept away, and ahead are freezing-cold, dark weeks seriously lacking in sparkle. If hibernating until spring isn’t an option, the alternative is to find ways to enjoy it. MMD, a leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, points out four ways to make January the best month of the year for getting stuff done – and for relaxing with a clear conscience.

1. Secure your communication
With so much happening at the end of the year, people focus on the urgent stuff. January provides welcome breathing space to work through important issues that tend to drop down the to-do list. Like beefing up office security, for example. One often-overlooked risk exposure point is the webcam. For many professionals, webcams are vital tools to stay in touch with colleagues and partners. However, they also represent a window into the enterprise that can feasibly be open to hackers. People worried about webcam security should check out the Philips displays with a retractable webcam. It pops up when it’s required for meetings, and tucks neatly away when not in use.

2. Catch up on movies
January evenings are a great excuse to catch up on all of last year’s movies. With curved displays in a range of sizes, MMD brings a truly immersive, focused experience to desks (letting people forget it’s January outside). The 40-inch Brilliance Curved Philips display, for instance, the largest 4K curved display on the market, wraps around the line of vision to create more personal space. Viewing distances from the edges and centre of the screen are equal – so users need to turn their head less to see content at the edges, and can enjoy fantastic clarity and brilliance for true-to-life imaging. The DTS™ enhanced audio through integrated speakers complements the visuals with superb surround sound.

3. Do the January sales – from home
The sales are arguably the best reason to like January. And with online shopping, it’s possible to grab start-of-year bargains without braving the cold and crowds. This year, the best shopping assistant is a display with Ultra Wide Color Technology. Supporting a wider gamut, it expands the range of colours that users perceive on the display. Hence, Ultra Wide Color displays take the guesswork out of online shopping: people can see the true colour of the product before they click “buy”, be it bargain designer clothes or a new kitchen. The technology works through changes to the actual chemistry of the panel, rather than through software. It is available in the 24- and 27-inch E-Line displays from MMD with 16:9 Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, and also in displays featuring UltraClear 4K resolution with 3840×2160 pixels. Ultra Wide Color is also fantastic for aspiring photographers – and long January evenings are the perfect opportunity to fine-tune photo and graphic work!

4. Take time for pampering
January, with its “fresh start” feel, is the perfect month to focus on health and wellbeing. It doesn’t have to be a major diet or exercise regime. It’s possible to make a start on greater wellbeing by making a few adjustments to desktop equipment. For instance, to prevent eye fatigue and stay concentrated, it’s vital to have a display that minimizes strain. Philips SoftBlue technology mitigates the potential long-term impacts on eyesight from blue-light exposure. SoftBlue displays work by shifting the blue light to safer ranges, and do so without compromising colour fidelity or brightness.
Handled right, January can have plenty of positives. A great viewing experience, with colour, resolution and stylish display looks, will make the time until spring pass super quickly!
