Today’s consumers are more ecologically aware than ever. They seek improved productivity, but not at the expense of the planet. MMD explains how Philips displays enable enhanced performance while respecting the environment.

Amsterdam, 26 March 2018 – As technologies advance, every day we demand more and more quality and increased performance, which often leads to excessive consumption of energy, regardless of the waste of resources our planet has to suffer. Luckily, when it comes to choosing a monitor, there are a host of solutions available today that reconcile performance with sustainability, so that consumers can find the monitor that meets their needs while ensuring that those of the environment are met as well. MMD, brand license partner for Philips monitors, illustrates how the latest Philips displays demonstrate the company’s commitment to the environment. Designed for sustainability, these monitors come equipped with a wide array of innovative features to reduce environmental impact while delivering true-to-life visuals and productivity-focussed innovations.

A better world starts with energy efficiency
A key element to consider when choosing an environmentally friendly monitor is TCO Edge certification, awarded to products that exceed existing eco-labelling schemes. A step above standard TCO requirements, TCO Edge mandates the product’s use of at least 85% post-consumer recycled plastics and 100% recyclable packing, is energy efficient, uses minimal hazardous materials, and is designed for easy recycling. MMD's growing commitment to the development of low-power consumer monitors also meet Energy Star 7.0 standard and smart technologies equipment including PowerSensor, which uses infrared signals to detect the presence of a person in front of the monitor and automatically reduces energy consumption by up to 80%. Finally, the 0-watt hard switch conveniently located at the back of the monitor enables users to completely cut off their monitor from AC power, resulting in zero power consumption and further reducing their carbon footprint.

Packaging and substances wisely considered
The very design of Philips displays is green, thanks to a slim profile and lightweight materials. Packaging is thus kept to a minimum, all of which is 100% recyclable. In addition to being RoHS compliant, Philips monitors are certified EPEAT Gold to ensure protection of human health and the environment. The EPEAT program helps buyers evaluate monitors based on 51 environmental criteria supported by the US EPA. Gold certification signifies that at least 30% of the plastic used is post-consumer resin, which guarantees lower toxic and hazardous material use. Furthermore, the monitors feature housing that is free from brominated flame retardant and polyvinyl chloride (PVC/BFR-free), as well as a mercury-free LED backlit display.

Top productivity meets green solutions
MMD wants to help consumers make simple choices about the products they buy and the impact these have throughout the product lifecycle. Thanks to eco-sustainability of Philips monitors, the choice has never been easier. A perfect combination of performance and environmental care is the new Philips 272P7VPTKEB from the P7 Series, a 4K UHD 10-bit display with PowerSensor, which offers crisp images and efficient performance. Worthy allies for eco-friendly productivity are displays from the B7 Series, which provide a complete portfolio of solutions for every business need, including 24-inch 16:10 WUXGA PowerSensor displays Philips 240B7, which feature 85% post-consumer recycled plastics and PVC/BFR-free housing while delivering brilliant performance thanks to IPS technology for saturated colours and wide viewing angles. The Philips 221B7 and 241B7 Full HD PowerSensor displays, ranging from 22 to 24 inches combine eco-efficient design, 100% recyclable packaging, and impressive energy efficiency in addition to connectivity enhancing innovations such as SmartConnect and comfortable productivity features such as LowBlue Mode and Flicker-Free technology. For those looking for higher resolution, the Philips 272B7 and 242B7 displays feature 24 and 27-inch panels with QHD resolution and a plethora of input/output connections, without sacrificing ergonomics, thanks to the SmartErgoBase, and privacy, thanks to solutions equipped with pop-up webcams.
