Alvin Soprano Announces Her First Machinima Series "The Witching Hour"

Independent filmmaker and machinima creator Alvin Soprano has returned to YouTube after a multi year absence and is now developing her first ever series, The Witching Hour. The project, currently in production, will be released as an episodic horror anthology created entirely in The Sims 4. It marks a notable shift in format for the filmmaker, who until now has exclusively produced standalone machinima films for nearly two decades.

Soprano's YouTube return began quietly in December 2024 with the release of four short machinimas across The Sims 4 and GTA V engines:

These uploads mark her first machinima releases since Notorious (March 2021), ending a prolonged period of silence on her channel.

Since 2007, Alvin Soprano has been known for one off machinima films with a focus on psychological horror, folklore inspired plots, and surreal narratives. The Witching Hour represents her first departure from this format. Each episode will tell a self contained story under a shared thematic umbrella, in the tradition of anthology series. According to internal notes, the project draws inspiration from 20th century horror literature, analog media, and early horror television formats such as Twilight Zone.

Unlike earlier titles such as Fantasmus (2020, 89:34 min) and The Howler (2017, 48:33 min), The Witching Hour will consist of short episodes with varying runtimes, unified by visual style and tone but not by storyline. Episodes are being scripted, filmed, and edited independently, without reliance on outside funding or studio involvement.

There is currently no release date confirmed for the premiere episode.

Born in Istanbul and raised between Rome and Moscow, Soprano began experimenting with game engines in childhood and continued producing machinima through adolescence and into early adulthood. In addition to machinima, she directed six live action short horror films during her university years, though her online presence has remained centered on machinima.

Her stylistic trademarks include dreamlike pacing, post Soviet visual influences, found footage aesthetics, and an emphasis on atmosphere over dialogue. Although her YouTube channel has grown a dedicated following over time, Soprano is not active on social media and maintains no formal online presence beyond her uploads.

The Witching Hour is being developed entirely independently, without crowdfunding or distribution partnerships. Each episode is written, voiced, and edited in-house, continuing Soprano's long standing production model. All footage is being generated using The Sims 4, consistent with her previous four machinimas and several of her 2020-2021 films.

Her workflow is offline, and she does not issue trailers, devlogs, or promotional commentary. While this low visibility approach limits traditional audience outreach, it has allowed her to retain full creative control and an uninterrupted production timeline.

The Witching Hour will be Soprano's first serialized production in 18 years of machinima filmmaking. It introduces a new structural chapter in her catalog, while continuing to utilize the aesthetic and technical language that has defined her previous work. The series is currently in post production on its first episode, with additional scripts in development.
