Vespa enthusiasts on an epic tour through Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand - A group of international Vespa enthusiasts, led by the founders of the German company SIP Scootershop, embarked on an extraordinary journey through Thailand at the end of January 2025. The aim was to escape the European winter and explore the Asian country on classic scooters.

The trip began just in time for Chinese New Year in Bangkok, where the participants were welcomed by Lome, the founder of Vintage Vespa Thai. Lome not only organized the accommodation and provided spectacular vintage Vespas, but also liaised with local Vespa clubs and ensured the tour ran smoothly.

After a visit to the impressive Wat Arun temple and a hearty BBQ on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the group set off south, accompanied by a motorcycle police. The route took them through the coastal town of Rayong, where they joined up with members of the Pattaya Scooter Club. In total, the Vespa convoy comprised over 40 scooters, many of them creatively modified, true to the Thai motto: "Better to walk than ride standard."

Minor technical problems arose during the trip, but these were quickly resolved thanks to the improvisational skills of the Thai scooter enthusiasts. One particular highlight was the repair of a scooter with a stuck piston by "Mr. Benz" during the ferry crossing to Koh Chang - an achievement that was met with applause.

Once on Koh Chang, the participants not only enjoyed the picturesque beaches and sunsets, but also a trip to the island of Ko Khlum with snorkeling and fishing. An unforgettable moment was the spontaneous organization of elephants on the beach by host Lome, which amazed even the monkeys present.

Back in Bangkok, the Vespa riders spent a few more days exploring off the beaten track. Thanks to the support of Vespa Thailand, they were able to experience the city on new Variomatic scooters. The trip ended with many thanks to everyone involved, especially Lome, his family and the local scooter clubs for their outstanding hospitality.
