Vinyl polyethylene glycol (VPEG) is a macromonomer used in polycarboxylate water-reducing agents. Its chemical name is Polyethylene glycol mono[4-(vinyloxy)butyl] ether. It is a derivative of polyethylene glycol (PEG). It is functionalized by introducing vinyl groups (-CH2-CH2-) into the PEG molecular chain to make it more reactive and cross-linkable. It has the characteristics of high activity and low polymerization residues, and is an important component of the new generation of polycarboxylate water-reducing agents. The polycarboxylate water-reducing agent synthesized by VPEG exhibits excellent slump retention and good water-reducing performance. The concrete workability is very good, and it is not prone to bleeding, segregation, and sticking to the bottom.
