Maxim launches cashless payment system for rides in South Africa
Simple: Now, users will be able to pay for rides and delivery after adding a bank card to their account only once. All they need to do is open the "Non-cash payment" tab in the app's menu, tap "Bank cards" and add the details of their card. After that, the payments for future orders will be automatically deducted from the user and credited to the driver-partners' accounts. This function renders cash unnecessary and ultimately facilitates the payment process.
Safe: Digital payment eliminates the risk of carrying cash, providing a safer option for both passengers and drivers. All transactions are processed by a partner bank, which acts as a failsafe against fraud and personal data theft.
"Launching the acquiring system in South Africa is an important milestone for Maxim, as it is in line with the global digital payment and service digitalization trends. We are sure that this initiative will make our services yet more convenient and accessible for everyone," says Quinten De kock, head of Maxim Cape Town.
Maxim was launched in South Africa in June, 2023. Currently, its services are available for guests and residents of Bloemfontein, Cape Town, East London, eMalahleni (Witbank), George, Gqerberha (Port Elizabeth), Kimberley, Klerksdorp, Mbombela, Middelburg, Mossel Bay, Newcastle, Pietermaritzburg, Polokwane (Pietersburg) and Potchefstroom.
Maxim is South Africa's pioneering ride-hailing service aimed at the mass market. The company offers lower-than-average prices for rides and other services, enabling more people to use ride-hailing in their day-to-day lives. Maxim users don't have to wait for a special occasion to book a ride to work, order a courier delivery or delivery of groceries or meals to their house. Thanks to the affordable prices, these services have become more accessible for people with different levels of income.
