ENEX CHP Plant to Cover Energy Needs of Paper Mill of Goznak, Belarus

12-06-2016 08:50 PM CET | Energy & Environment

Press release from: BPC Engineering

BPC Engineering signed a contract to supply two ENEX 1000 microturbine systems for the Industrial Unitary Enterprise «Paper Mill» of the Department of State Symbols of the Finance Ministry of the Republic of Belarus (Paper Mill of Goznak) – one of the largest paper manufacturers in Belarus. The project is a part of the company's boiler house renovation plan that implies installation of a 2-MW CHP plant with the main goal to cut energy-cost rate of the products and increase energy efficiency of the facility. BPC Engineering will also perform installation supervision and commissioning of the equipment.
Energy supply upgrade was driven by the need to improve product competitiveness including international markets. Microturbine plants were chosen based on the experience of other Belarusian industrial enterprises that had proved their efficiency, cost-effectiveness and green operation. Microturbines feature exceptional CHP efficiency providing 1.3kW of heat per each kilowatt of generated electricity. The ENEX microturbine systems will be manufactured by BPC Engineering at own plant located in Tutaev City, Yaroslavl Region (Russia). Each system will comprise 5x 200-kW microturbine modules ensuring high load flexibility in conditions of high daily demand fluctuations – from 400kW to 2000kW.
Hot exhaust will be used to generate about 4 tons of steam per hour for technological processes as well as heating and hot water supply. ENEX equipment features high reliability and demands maintenance no more than once a year or each 8 000 running hours. The CHP plant will operate in parallel to the utility grid and cover about 80%-90% of the facility's needs in electricity. On-site electricity generation will cost about $0.06 due to low quantity of consumables, spare parts and labor costs making it almost two times cheaper than the utility rates. Estimated savings through the implementation of the microturbine CHP plant will amount to about $500 000 annually. Moreover, ENEX plants provide excellent ecological features (CO and NOx emission do not exceed 9 ppm) complying with the stringent Belarusian environmental legislation and do not require installation of costly exhaust treatment systems.

BPC Engineering is an integrated engineering company specializing in the construction and operation of distributed energy systems. As an EPC company, BPC Engineeing design, install and operate Capstone microturbine-based distributed power plants with power output range from 10-15 kilowatts to 20 megawatts. As an OEM at own factory in Tutaev, Yaroslavl region, company manufactures microturbine units and packaged power plants based on Capstone microturbines and Dresser-Rand gas turbines under own brand ENEX (Energy Expert) as well as under brand COMPEX (Compressor Expert) produces screw, reciprocating, centrifugal gas compressors; equipment for associated and flare gas treatment; wellhead gas compression systems for legacy wells operation extension; single-stage, low-temperature and scalable desulfurization systems; zero-flaring systems, gas reinjection, LPG and aromatics extraction; waste-to-energy systems based on proprietary fast pyrolysis technology.
