Highly compact design and precision measurement ? the ICD-A system from Isabellenhütte. © Isabellenhütte Heusler GmbH & Co. KG

The latest product development in measurement technology from Isabellenhütte is a compact current measuring module.

The shunt-based ICD-A system has a sealed six-pole MCON connector, which is commonly used in the automotive industry. It protects the signal and power transmission from external influences. With transmission rates of up to 1 Mbit/s, the connection provides digitised data in CAN bus 2.0 format, and ensures a high level of measurement precision for its users. The microcontroller used for digitisation includes, among other features, an AC/DC converter, temperature measurement and voltage regulation. This solution also stands out from the crowd thanks to its ultra-low energy consumption, which the sensor can also measure and supply independently – an advantage that is particularly important in the area of e-mobility. The ICD-A is available in three variations with different current levels: 100 A, 300 A and 500 A. All models have the same dimensions.

Alongside the automotive solution, Isabellenhütte also offers a version of the measurement technology system for industry in the form of the ICD-C model. Both ICD-A and ICD-C boast a highly compact design. This makes them particularly suited to applications where space is tight in terms of assembly, because they are more than 50 per cent smaller than comparable products. Galvanic isolation was not used, as customer applications always have their own built-in galvanic isolation. This makes the ICD series one of the most compact product series in the ISAscale range.

Isabellenhütte Heusler GmbH & Co. KG is a leader in the field of shunt-based current measurement technology. Its precision measurement systems are marketed under the ISAscale® brand. The backbone of the company is its alloy line of business, which manufactures semi-finished products from resistant alloys and thermoelectric materials. Isabellenhütte Heusler GmbH & Co. KG has been owned by the Heusler family since 1827. The company employs some 850 people at its headquarters and production location in Dillenburg (Hesse, Germany). www.isabellenhuette.de

New FMx shunt family: Small and low-ohmic
Isabellenhütte has developed a new range of precision resistors in standard sizes with resistances ranging from 1 to 6 mOhm for applications which require small and low-ohmic shunts. In terms of their construction, the components are also less complex than the current ISA-PLAN®resistance families. And yet, they offer the same performance quality: very good long-term stability, a low temperature coefficient, and low thermoelectric voltages. With the FMx shunt family, Isabellenhütte has

BAX shunt: High-performance component for electric vehicles
Electromobility is steadily gaining ground in the automotive industry, and its relevance is increasing accordingly. With the presentation of its new BAX shunt, Isabellenhütte is now taking due account of the requirements that this trend is imposing on components for high-power battery management systems. In the last year, demand for high-performance shunts for use in electric vehicles has skyrocketed. This is down to the pace of development in the electromobility sector.
