DQS continues its international expansion: new office

Giza - Frankfurt, 25th January, 2006

High Tech meets Antiquity

Just a stone's throw from the legendary pyramids at Giza, North Africa's largest technology hub is being created on an area of more than 450 acres. And DQS Egypt Ltd. is among the first organizations to settle in Egypt's showcase project "Smart Village".

Under the leadership of managing director Tarek Abdou, the latest member of DQS group offers a wide range of products from the comprehensive DQS service portfolio. With this expansion of its international activities into the Arab Republic, DQS is responding to the growth of the management systems certification market. The demand for such certification has been growing continually among organizations in the region over the last years.
For example: according to the current ISO survey, the number of organizations certified to ISO 14001 (environmental management) in Egypt all but tripled from 2001 to 2004. During the same time, the number of quality management certificates to ISO 9001 even multiplied by 45.

"Assessments of quality and environmental management systems as well as of workplace safety to OHSAS 18001 are going to be even more in demand", forecasts Tarek Abdou. "By the end of 2006 all transportation organizations will have to be certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001", says Tarek Abdou, making reference to a corresponding decree of the Egyptian Transportation Ministry. There is also growing demand for assessment services in the country's food and information technology markets.

Operating out of Smart Village, Tarek Abdou and his team are responsible for all of Egypt, and also take care of DQS customers in neighboring countries.

DQS German Registrar for Management System was founded in 1985 by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and the German Society for Quality (DGQ) as the first German registrar for management systems. With 33 offices in 29 countries, DQS is one of the most renowned companies in the international certification business today. Registered office is Frankfurt am Main, Germany. DQS' range of services comprises assessments according to more than 50 recognized standards and technical or industry-specific specifications, as well as assessments to intra-company requirements.
