Now serving the Maghreb states: DQS Group further expands
Ariana / Frankfurt/Main. May 4, 2007. The continuous expansion of new DQS offices has now reached Northern Africa. DQS Maghreb, based in Tunis, Tunisia and led by Mr. Tarek Barketallah now offers assessment and certification services in Tunisia, Morocco, Libya and Algeria.The percentage of DQS customers with sites in the North African market has grown significantly in recent years. Besides implementing Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety management systems, organizations are increasingly introducing Food Safety standards, thereby meeting demands of a strong tourism sector in certain regions (e.g. Tunisia).
The European Union is one of the most important trade partners of the Arab Maghreb Union, consisting of the five Maghreb states Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia. For their trade with the European Union some of those countries today already reach export quotas of more than 70%. Based on the so-called "Barcelona Process", this quota is expected to increase with the introduction of a free trade zone by the year 2010 which includes the European Union and partner countries around the Mediterranean Sea.
