SIP Scootershop celebrates its 30th anniversary: From garage startup to international market leader

Landsberg am Lech - In 2024, SIP Scootershop GmbH will be celebrating its 30th anniversary. Founded in 1994 by Alexander Barth and Ralf Jodl in a garage, the company has developed into one of the world's leading suppliers of spare parts and accessories for Vespa and Lambretta scooters.

The company's beginnings were modest: The first goods were stored between Barth's father's beehives, and due to a lack of staff, the founders delivered the parcels to the post office themselves by Vespa. Over the next three decades, SIP Scootershop experienced steady growth, characterized by numerous decisions that shaped the company. The focus was not only on business success, but also on building relationships that became friendships, as well as exploring the topic of "scooters" from different perspectives.

The last five years have been particularly challenging due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Thanks to dedicated employees, loyal customers and reliable suppliers, the company was able to survive this phase without any major damage. At the beginning of 2024, Managing Director Ralf Jodl took the opportunity to visit business partners and friends in the USA, Australia, Thailand and the Philippines to gain an up-to-date overview of the scooter market. He was impressed by the worldwide passion for Lambretta and Vespa that he experienced on various continents.

SIP Scootershop attaches great importance to personal contact with the scene and its customers. The flagship store with adjoining Italian restaurant "Siperia" in Landsberg serves as a contact point and meeting place for scooter riders from all over Germany and beyond. Regular events such as the "Open Day", which took place on May 18, 2024, attract over 4,000 visitors. To mark its 30th anniversary, the company presented a specially designed custom scooter called "Tribute", which underlines its connection to the global scooter scene.

Looking to the future, the managing directors emphasize the need to adapt to changing customer needs. While the core business remains customer service and the availability of more than 50,000 Vespa and Lambretta-related items, the company is also monitoring the growing market for e-bikes and e-scooters. "Times are changing and customers' needs have changed over the years. SIP Scootershop has to adapt if we want to be prepared for the coming years," analyzes Managing Director Alexander Barth.

In the coming years, SIP Scootershop plans to continuously expand its digital offerings. This includes blogs on the company website and the development of an extensive Scooter Modelbase, an online reference work that will provide comprehensive information on all scooter models worldwide in the long term.

With a dedicated team and a clear vision for the future, SIP Scootershop is optimistic about the coming decades. The managing directors would like to thank all employees for their dedication and passion, as well as the customers for their many years of trust and loyalty to the brand. "Without you, there would be no SIP Scootershop," emphasize Barth and Jodl. They hope to be able to welcome and get to know many more customers at their events in the future.
