Women in the security industry: An asset for companies and society
Women in the security industry: diversity and new perspectivesThe security industry is traditionally considered to be dominated by men, but it is time to change this picture. The proportion of women in security personnel worldwide is only around 10-15%, which shows great potential for more diversity. The industry can benefit significantly from greater female involvement. secura protect is actively committed to attracting more women to this challenging and future-oriented profession.
Breaking down prejudices about the security industry
Many people associate the security industry with tough, often dangerous situations. This image puts women in particular off. But the reality is different: The security industry offers far more than just physical altercations and night shifts. Women bring important strengths such as strong communication skills, empathy and a high level of problem-solving competence - qualities that are essential for dealing with stressful situations. Their presence also creates trust, which is particularly important in many areas such as the protection of shared accommodation or when dealing with families and children.
Versatile areas of application for women
Women are active in the security industry in diverse and exciting areas of work. Whether it's reception and access control, museum, event and property security or patrol services - their skills are in demand in numerous areas. Women are also increasingly taking on more demanding tasks, for example in armed property protection or at major events. They are particularly in demand when it comes to contact with women and children, for example in refugee shelters. Their empathy and communication skills are a decisive advantage. You can find suitable vacancies on the secura protect careers page.
Testimonials from our employees
Women are already successfully represented in various functions at secura protect. Their testimonials show how enriching and diverse the activities in the security industry can be:
_Lisa Milic, specialist for protection and security at the TU Dresden:_ "I started my training at secura protect at the age of 17. I was unsure at first, but I quickly became part of a supportive community. Today, the security industry offers attractive career opportunities."
Ute Müller, security employee in property protection in Porschdorf:_ "In the security service, I can perfectly contribute my enjoyment of dealing with people. The diversity of nationalities and age groups that I deal with on a daily basis enriches my everyday life."
Andrea Kornetzki, security officer at Asylum in Schweinfurt and the Federal Police in Oberschleißheim:_ "Women should be braver and choose the security sector. They can achieve a lot with self-confidence and competence."
_Afanasyeva Rimma, Supervisor and Cashier at the State Museum of Archaeology in Chemnitz: _"Security in the art and culture sector is something special. I appreciate the interaction with museum visitors. Women should be brave."
_Maren Kobiella, gate service at Faurecia in Peine:_ "Handling trucks at the gate requires concentration and assertiveness. I have learned to assert myself in a male-dominated environment."
Initiatives for more gender equality
Initiatives such as International Women's Day or Girls' Day are important occasions to show appreciation for women in the security industry. Secura protect is actively committed to establishing a culture of equality, mutual respect and appreciation of women's achievements. On International Women's Day, for example, all female employees of secura protect throughout Germany are surprised with flowers - a small but meaningful sign of recognition.
Girls' Day also offers young women the opportunity to get a taste of professions that are still often considered "typical male professions". This year, three young women decided to get to know the profession of security guard at secura protect - a big step towards changing the image of the industry.
Conclusion: A strong and diverse security industry for the future
The security industry offers women numerous opportunities to contribute their individual strengths and pursue a career. Secura protect is committed to attracting more women to the industry and showing them that their skills are not only welcome, but essential. Together we can create a more diverse and stronger security industry - an industry where all genders are equally represented and work together to make the world a safer place.
