RAM Increases Capital Investment in Ramkhamhaeng Hospital 2 to Build Radiation Therapy Center and Nutrition Building, Expected to Open in Q2/2023

Ramkhamhaeng Hospital (RAM) has announced that its Board of Directors has approved the purchase of an additional 5,714,055 shares in Ramnakara Co., Ltd. at a price of 100 THB per share, amounting to an additional investment of approximately 571.41 million THB. This capital increase raises the total investment in Ramnakara Co., Ltd. from 3.5 billion THB to 4.5 billion THB, increasing RAM's shareholding from 50.75% to 52.17%.

Ramnakara Co., Ltd. will use the capital increase to fund the construction and operation of Ramkhamhaeng Hospital 2, elevating it to international standards. The additional 1 billion THB will be allocated to various projects, including approximately 700 million THB for the construction and system work of the Nutrition Building and Radiation Therapy Center, 150 million THB for medical equipment, and 150 million THB for working capital.

Currently, the construction is 95% complete, and the hospital is expected to begin operations in Q2/2023. The first phase will open with an initial capacity of 80-100 beds by the end of 2023.

Ramnakara was founded in 2016 to operate Ramkhamhaeng Hospital 2, a private hospital located on Ramkhamhaeng Road, Saphan Sung District, Bangkok, on a 35-rai plot of land. The original business plan aimed to develop a 560-bed hospital, focusing on self-paying patients in the surrounding area.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the public has become more health-conscious, both in terms of preventive care and proactive health management. This has led to a steady increase in health insurance purchases. Additionally, government policies related to medical services have evolved, enabling better access to timely healthcare. As a result, hospital operators in Thailand have had to adapt to meet these growing demands by establishing specialized treatment centers and centers of excellence, while also ensuring that healthcare services are safe and meet international standards.

RAM sees Ramkhamhaeng Hospital 2 as a site with significant growth potential, and there is available land for further development. With the transformation of Ramnakara into a subsidiary, RAM has revised its business plan to include the construction of a comprehensive Radiation Therapy Center, aligned with the government's "Cancer Anywhere" policy, and a Nutrition Building. These new facilities will serve both Ramkhamhaeng Hospital 1 and Ramkhamhaeng Hospital 2, with the aim of receiving accreditation from the American Accreditation Commission International (AACI) for healthcare services.
