JMA Pilani Celebrates Teachers Day Ganesh Chaturthi Combo with Gaiety & Devotion

Teachers Day is indeed an occasion to pay reverence and gratitude to teachers for their selfless effort in shaping careers and enriching the educational process.

UNESCO World Teachers’ Day, held annually on 5 October since 1994, commemorates the anniversary of the signing in 1966 of the UNESCO / ILO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers. It is an occasion to celebrate the essential role of teachers in providing quality education at all levels. World Teachers' Day 2016 focuses on Teachers Education for the 21st Century.

However, different countries celebrate Teachers day on different dates but for India its September 5 which is the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888 – 1975) a great scholar, teacher and philosopher who was the first vice president of Independent India as well as its second president.

JMA Pilani regularly celebrates various days of national and international significance. While the Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan and her team of teachers took the back seat for the day, the students of Class 11 & 12 became teachers and engaged various classes as well as took the control of the proceedings for the entire day. The teachers had a pleasant surprise when they entered the school which was fully decorated by the students.

After performing puja to Lord Ganesh both at the senior section and junior section of the school, the Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan and the team of teachers joined the cultural program rolled out by the students. The items presented by the students to entertain the teachers included a Mime highlighting the invasion of mobile in all walks of life, a Punjabi dance, a Kathak dance and two Rajasthani dances.

The students then conducted various games for the teachers and gave prizes to the winning teachers. Miss Babita Moyal Class 11 student presented a portrait of the principal. All teachers received a tag highlighting their personality and the celebrations ended with the cutting of a specially designed cake by the students.

Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan gave tips on how to become a great teacher and thanked the students and wished them the very best in all their future endeavors.
