Banks-Whittington has always had a heart for helping. She is a military veteran who holds a master's degree in social work, and she is also the founder of Diverse Children's Books Matter [https://diversecbm.com/]. Through this diverse children's book publishing imprint, she reaches children from all walks of life through relatable, engaging stories that foster understanding and celebrate uniqueness. The journey to becoming an author began when her husband mentioned that there weren't many Black fathers in the bedtime stories they read their daughter. When Banks-Whittington debuted her first book, 'I Love My Daddy,' it was instantly a success.
Now, Banks-Whittington and Diverse Children's Books Matter have released 'I Matter for Teen Girls: A Guided Journal for Young Girls Navigating This Crazy World.' This journal provides a guided roadmap for self-development that nurtures embracing self.
