The COSCOM picking app for mobile use

The COSCOM ECO platform for controlling store floor processes in mechanical production has been enriched by another web app: The new COSCOM picking app, fully integrated in the COSCOM ECO system, ensures quick and easy work in central resource preparation. Warehouse bookings made easy: the "digital shopping list" saves time, reduces sources of error and enables parallel work on different orders. The system requirements are low, the app is extremely easy to configure and can also be used on any mobile smart device with a web browser.

Today's high level of individualization of workpieces leads to single part production or small series production with short order lead times. A production order arrives at the production level of a company and is created as a staging order in the central resource preparation department. Without end-to-end digitalization of the store floor, many companies now have a partial "paper trail" that is time-consuming and error-prone. If a company is already equipped with the COSCOM ECO system, in which the COSCOM tool management system ToolDIRECTOR VM and the COSCOM CAM data management system FactoryDIRECTOR VM are integrated, the master and planning data is now stored centrally and digitally. From this, the employee generates a gross requirements list of operating resources that are needed on the machine to produce the workpiece. With the ToolDIRECTOR VM tool cycle, the picker compares the current booking status at the machine with the gross requirements list (planned requirements) and thus receives a net requirements list - i.e. precisely the operating resources that are still physically required at the machine to process the order.

Digital picking in the equipment warehouse with the new COSCOM picking app offers considerable increases in efficiency for order-related equipment preparation. And this is how it works: This net requirements list is issued at the picking app. In this "digital shopping list", the storage locations of the individual required resources are stored and displayed to the employee. If, for example, 12 items of equipment are still required, the app guides the employee along the shortest route from equipment 1 to equipment 12. This location/route-optimized list saves time and reduces sources of error by preventing the wrong equipment from ending up in the picking trolley. Another feature is mobile booking. The picking app communicates directly with the ECO system, allowing the picker to book the removed tools directly in the app and assign them to the corresponding cost center. This reduces the stock booking effort to a minimum. Saving time and reducing incorrect bookings due to transmission errors are also the top priorities here thanks to the use of the COSCOM picking app.

No major system requirements are necessary to use the COSCOM picking app. The app can be used on any smart device, such as a smartphone or tablet PC. The responsive design optimizes the view to the end device used and thus offers maximum flexibility for the user company. Only a web browser and the web service of the COSCOM ECO system are required. The usability is kept very simple and is based on standard smartphone apps. The new COSCOM picking app can be configured centrally by the IT administrator. In day-to-day business, several employees can process different orders in parallel via the new COSCOM picking app using different end devices.
