Requirements for student exchanges: international EXPERIENCE e.V. finds motivated young people

Lohmar, 30.04.24. "It's time for something new" - parents are amazed when their child, just a moment ago playful, suddenly spreads its wings. The urgently desired "new thing" has to happen, preferably far away: the youngsters want an exchange year. A central motivation is to "get to know a new culture, make new friends and experience something new, improve the language". This will all happen abroad. But how this happens in detail is as individual as each young person.

International EXPERIENCE e.V. therefore selects exchange students who have an open mind and can seize opportunities, because there are bound to be surprises.

Selection criteria for exchange students

The young people present their personality in a short written application:

* expressive winning photo
* Language skills and certificates
* Details of interests and hobbies
* Details of birthday, parents, contact details

The personal selection interview at international EXPERIENCE e. V. is about getting to know the young people and their wishes and ideas regarding the year abroad.

Possible questions include

* What hobbies can you socialize with abroad?
* How do you organize your everyday life in Germany with school, hobbies, family and friends?
* What kind of family life do you have in Germany?
* How do you deal with your own school issues and with your family?
* How do parents motivate their child when faced with challenges?
* What do they both know about the destination country?
* How is the communication style?



Self-confidence with modesty

During their year abroad, young people are challenged very intensively in the analog world. Real people, real situations want to be discovered directly. At the exchange organization international EXPERIENCE e. V., the personal, detailed preparatory seminar helps young people to deal with new challenges.



At the latest before departure, when, after many forms and discussions, it is known exactly where the host family will live and which school it will be, the young people take a closer look at their destination.

With openness and good observation, commitment and good communication, the young people build their lives abroad. This strengthens their personality and gives them the confidence to try out new things and take on future challenges.
