Lohmar, 15.04.24. Student exchanges in Spanish-speaking countries such as Spain, Argentina and Chile are an exciting and enriching experience for young people. Together with the student exchange organization international EXPERIENCE e. V., we take a look at the everyday life that guest students experience in these countries:

* Life in the host family:

* The host family is the central anchor point for the student exchange. Spanish, Argentinian and Chilean families are warm and lively: people are louder than in Germany and like to greet each other with kisses on the cheeks. These differences are part of the cultural exchange and should not be a problem.
* Gifts from home are a good start to integrating into the family. Openness and curiosity are the key to building a close relationship with the host family.
* The standard of living and the furnishings of the houses are simpler than in Germany, but the warm hosts make up for this with a lot of spirit and joie de vivre.

* School subjects:

* In Spanish-speaking countries, you can continue the subjects you are familiar with from Germany, in Spanish of course. The timetables are more flexible and there is often a longer lunch break.
* Teaching methods abroad can vary, so guest students should be open to new approaches.

* Free time:

* Leisure activities are up to the young person. As many host parents work, there is time to explore the surrounding area after school and at weekends.
* You can use this time to enjoy the different cuisine, visit places of interest and make new friends. Perhaps someone will become a passionate soccer fan or discover local traditions.

All in all, student exchanges in Spain, Argentina and Chile offer a unique opportunity to experience the culture, people and life in these countries at first hand. Young people who are open-minded and curious will enjoy this unforgettable time! You can start your year abroad in Argentina and Chile without any knowledge of Spanish, as you start with an intensive language course beforehand.
