National Expert Addresses Key Issues Around Healing That Need Clarification

March 13 /EmpoweringSites.com/ - Almost every indicator regarding the health and welfare of people in the United States shows that many of the population are in trouble.

"We have never been sicker; we are suffering. The systems that are in place to supposedly support and help us are part of the problem," states Dr. Randall S. Hansen, Ph.D., adding: "We have the worst mental health crisis, chronic diseases are reaching epidemic levels, and life expectancy is declining -- at a time when we should be able to be living our best lives."

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 50 percent of Americans will be diagnosed with a mental health problem or disorder during their lifetime; worldwide, 280 million people suffer from depression, while 264 million suffer with anxiety disorder.

The CDC also reports that more than 40 percent of Americans can be classified as obese; an even higher percentage is overweight. According to the CDC, the problem with obesity is that it often leads to heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. "These are among the leading causes of preventable, premature death. The estimated annual medical cost of obesity in the United States was nearly $173 billion in 2019 dollars," according to the CDC website.

What's the issue? Why is this happening? Why are we facing huge mental and physical health crises?

"I hate to say it, but the systems designed to protect us and keep us healthy are all seriously broken," states Hansen. "Our food system is toxically broken, our healthcare system overwhelmed and backward, and profit-focused pharmaceutical companies are all too happy to provide a pill for every ailment - whether it's needed or not."

Hansen's latest think-piece, entitled "How Do We Awaken People?" focuses on five truths that need to be exposed and discussed.

"It starts with trauma," states Hansen, "because so many of our problems are rooted in trauma. But right behind trauma is the gut microbiome - and we have abused our bodies with fake and toxic foods, pesticides and other harsh chemicals, an overuse of antibiotics for ourselves and our foods, and backward information on nutrition from our government."

Hansen is a leading expert on trauma and healing and has two books on the subject: the groundbreaking Triumph Over Trauma about healing through psychedelics and HEAL!, which focuses on the six major healing modalities.
