Product Creation Studio Wins the 2016 MD&M West Innovation Prize
Product Creation Studio, a design and engineering firm from Seattle, Washington, won the 2016 MD&M West Innovation Prize. The company is being recognized for their work on the LT-300, a photobiomodulation (PBM) device that will be used to treat age-related macular degeneration (AMD).The MD&M West Innovation Prize is awarded each year to one exhibitor at the Medical Device and Manufacturing West Conference, presented by UBM Canon. With over 2,000 exhibitors, this event is the largest annual gathering of the medical device industry in the United States.
Product Creation Studio entered the contest with a device they developed with LumiThera, a developmental stage medical device company located in Poulsbo, Washington. The LT-300 uses specified doses of LED light to target macular degeneration in the eye. The product has the potential to non-invasively treat dry AMD, the leading cause of blindness for people over the age of 65.
Product Creation Studio drove key aspects of the LT-300’s product development. They engineered the minimum viable product to prove out the device architecture, found the right dose of light for effective treatment, and designed the UI/UX interaction workflows to optimize the user experience for clinical trials.
