Judy Sarullo of Pet Rescue by Judy Receives 2016 Humanitarian of the Year Award from The Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce honored Judy Sarullo of Pet Rescue by Judy as its 2016 Humanitarian of the Year.

Each year, the Chamber honors one remarkable individual in recognition of outstanding service and involvement within the community. Sarullo was chosen not only for her commitment to providing proper shelter and care to local animals in need, but also for her preventative efforts in minimizing overpopulation of unwanted pets and the many other services that Pet Rescue By Judy provides.

For nearly 25 years, Sarullo has dedicated her life, working without vacations and salary, to rescuing and finding safe housing for Central Florida’s cats and dogs in need. What began as a simple effort to take in a handful of homeless pets and bring them to small local events for adoption, rapidly grew into what is now a 9,000-square-foot facility in Sanford, Fla., featuring a state-of-the-art rescue center and low-cost spay and neuter clinic that is open to the public.

According to Chamber President/CEO Frank Hale, “Judy Sarullo gave up a comfortable lifestyle and paying job long ago in commitment to making sure local pets were properly cared and provided for.” He noted that police forces, stretching far beyond the state of Florida, contact Sarullo for help when they find mistreated or abandoned pets.

The Chamber proudly presented its 2016 Humanitarian of the Year Award to Sarullo in gratitude of her nearly 25 years of continuous service to local cats and dogs in need.
