Synthetic Resin Impregnated Paper and Film Plastics

1. Synthetic resin impregnated papers
Synthetic resin impregnated paper is impregnated with thermosetting synthetic resin, and after drying, the solvent is evaporated to make resin impregnated paper (also known as adhesive film paper) to cover the surface of the wood-based panel substrate for hot pressing and gluing. Commonly used synthetic resin impregnated paper veneer without gluing, impregnated paper after drying synthetic resin is not cured completely, veneer when heated and melted, pasted on the surface of the substrate. Due to resin curing, in bonding with the substrate at the same time, the formation of surface protection film, the surface does not need to be coated with paint can be made of veneer. Depending on the resin impregnation, there are hot-cold and hot-heat gluing methods. For some impregnated papers with low resin content (50-60%) (also known as synthetic thin wood), the resin cures completely after drying. The surface of the substrate needs to be glued when laminating, and the surface can be coated with paint after lamination.

The main types of synthetic resin impregnated paper are:

A. Melamine resin impregnated paper:
(1) High-pressure melamine formaldehyde resin impregnated paper is one of the earliest. Good performance, a measure of the maximum (or minimum) density of the same board and the board's average density of the difference, as well as with the board's average density of the percentage. The size of the deviation of the density within the board largely reflects the uniformity of the board, which will affect the other physical and chemical properties of different parts of the board. If the deviation is too large, it will also cause the warping and deformation of the board, so the density deviation within the board is also one of the important quality indexes that should be strictly controlled by the factory.

(2) Low-pressure (modified) melamine resin impregnated paper is a kind of impregnated paper in which the melamine resin is modified to increase its fluidity. It has sufficient fluidity even at low pressure without cooling, i.e., low-pressure hot-heat gluing and pressing.
(3) Low-pressure, short-cycle melamine resin impregnated paper is impregnated with low-pressure melamine resin by adding a thermal reaction catalyst, which accelerates the reaction speed and shortens the heat-pressing cycle to 1-2 min. To reduce the cost, it can be impregnated with modified urea-formaldehyde resin and then with modified melamine resin, and low-pressure heat-heat gluing and pressing is also used. Low-pressure melamine resin impregnated paper veneer particleboard, medium fiberboard is mainly used for kitchen furniture, office furniture and computer desk processing. If the surface paper is made of high abrasion-resistant and the base material is made of high-density fiberboard, it can be processed into high abrasion-resistant laminated flooring materials (laminate flooring).

B. Phenolic resin impregnated paper:
Bottom cost, high strength and deep color, applicable to the surface of the physical properties of good but do not require aesthetic occasions. Generally specialized for the bottom layer of paper and parts of the back balance paper.

C. Dipropylene phthalate resin (DAP) impregnated paper:
Good flexibility, can be rolled, easy to take, good decorative quality, strong sense of reality, and can be directly affixed to the parts of the plane and side, but the cost is higher. Available low-pressure heat - heat method of glue pressure.

D. Guano amine resin impregnated paper:
Good chemical stability, long storage period, no cracking and can be rolled. Available low-pressure heat - heat method of glue pressure.

2. Plastic film
At present, the plastic film used for panel parts veneer are mainly polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film, polypropylene (Alkorcell Oxygen) film.
Commonly used plastic film is polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film, composed of polyvinyl chloride resin, pigments, plasticizers, stabilizers, lubricants and fillers. It is made in a mixing machine and printed on the surface or the back with various patterns, and to enhance the sense of realism, there are also embossed wood textures and eyelets. The film is beautiful and lifelike, air permeability is small, after the veneer can reduce the impact of air humidity on the substrate, with a certain degree of waterproof, wear-resistant and pollution-resistant properties. It is soft when heated and suitable for relief molding lamination (i.e., soft-forming lamination or vacuum shaped surface lamination). PVC film is supplied in rolls, and films with a thickness of 0.1-0.6mm are mainly used for general furniture, while films with a thickness of 0.8-1.0mm are used for kitchen furniture. Vacuum profiled surface lamination, relief molding veneer or soft molding veneer generally need to use thicker films.
