Anton Henning, Interieur No. 528, 2015, oil on canvas, 150 x 120,5 cm

In our new exhibition „Malreich Wandelbar“ GALERIE SUPPER, Baden-Baden, explores three different modes of contemporary painting. With Rayk Goetze (*1964), Anton Henning (*1964) and Uta Schotten (*1972) we devote this exhibition entirely to painting.

For quite a while painting in its more classical manner is viral in the art market. Painting received a new value and actuality, always in conjunction with prescribing the past, finding new modalities and reinventing itself continuously with a further gaze forward, not at least because of the international popularity of the „Leipziger Schule“.

We welcome Rayk Goetze in this exhibition as a new artist in our gallery to become an integral part of our program. His figurative paintings are an open associative room with its very own intensity, inviting us to a painterly quest. He creates actualized connotations within a historical frame, not denying its old masterly tendencies, but allowing them to interact in a progressive understanding of those. This is maybe comparable to a palimpsest, whose process of overwriting makes a new creation possible. In this way, Goetze understands to transform his motif painting technique into a dialectical discourse, in using a differentiate surface design.

You can find associative spaces in Anton Henning´s artworks as well. Despite the abstraction in his artworks, he often makes ironical allusions to well known motifs of art history. His paintings are signified by voluminous amorphous forms projecting into space. In his diverse and many layered spectrum of work – a multimedia conglomerate consisting of furniture, wallpaper, sound and painting – he makes `interiors´ creating an over all impression. Apparently unconcerned, he brings works into being, which trigger numerous connections and whose sculptural purpose radiate even in its oil paintings. A playful propeller type sign becomes his trademark, which you can find in almost every painting.
Uta Schotten´s poetical pictures let us perceive the diversity of painting once more. She consciously avoids a clear contour, it becomes a painterly veil blanketing everything and weaving the preferred complex of dreams, stories and memories into the works of art. Continually in her subject is a human figure, with which the artist wants to show us the behaviour of the human figure surrounded by the natured and nurtured space. She invites us with a rather dark colour palette to our own immersion.

We invite you to experience in our last exhibition before the summer break the convertible facets of contemporary painting in our small realm and to enjoy the encounters with current art.

Rayk Goetze was born 1964 in Stralsund. After studies at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig under Arno Rink and Neo Rauch, followed by a master class under Prof. Arno Rink, which he finished in 2000. Rayk Goetze was able to participate in numerous single- and group exhibitions, in which he developed the tradition of the „Leipziger Schule“ to his very own variance.

Anton Henning was born 1964 in Berlin. After several years in London he moved to New York, where he quickly developed the different modes of artistic expression as an autodidact. He creates spaces in a multimedia sense, not only on canvas, but rather freely on a broad pallet in a mixture of sculpture, video and sound. He achieved a multifaceted spectre of international exhibition activities. Wether at the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam or the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg: his diverse artworks captivate worldwide.

Uta Schotten was born 1972 in Haarlem, Netherlands and lives in Cologne since 1996. She started her studies at Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Städelschule Frankfurt am Main with Prof. Jörg Immendorf, followed by studies at Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig with Prof. Steven McKenna and Prof. Siegfried Anzinger. She finished in 1998 in Prof. Siegfried Anzinger´s master class. She extended her painterly spectre with sculpture in Prof. Tony Cragg´s studio between 2003 and 2005. Her artworks are represented in numerous public collections besides international exhibition activities.

The GALERIE Supper is specialized in contemporary art.

Founded in 2002 it opened in Baden-Baden in 2012 with its current profile. The gallery promotes young, emerging artists with an unique signature. It is the intention to correlate them with renowned artists. Their positions should complement and stimulate each other, whereas every artist keeps his own characteristics.

The gallery´s main focus follows two different guidelines:

1. We do present artists, that consider and acquire all possibilities of representation.
2. We do present artists, that question and reflect the current state of our society in their work.
