Press release from: ESCHA Bauelemente GmbH

ESCHA connectors in Hygienic Design are tailor-made for the specific requirements of the food industry.

ESCHA connectors in Hygienic Design are tailor-made for the specific requirements of the food industry.

Halver, 11 May 2015 – The connector- and housing manufacturer ESCHA is extending its portfolio with Food&Beverage-connectors in the so called ‚Hygienic Design‘. The existing M8x1- and M12x1 product lines are now even more comprehensive through the new LED-versions, 5-pin designs as well as variants with PVC-cable quality.

Connectors in Hygienic Design

Since the beginning of 2014, the connector- and housing specialist ESCHA has had its current connector generation for Food&Beverage-applications on the market. As particularly high standards for automation components are required in the food- and beverage industry, ESCHA connectors do not only consist of special plastics. Following the EHEDG-standards (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group), they are additionally made in ‚Hygienic Design‘.

The build-up of residues and the formation of dirt smudges is averted through its special upper surface structure. The TPE based overmold- and cable materials are resistant to ECOLAB-certified detergents. Thus, the sealing- and optical properties are maintained in the long run despite regular use of aggressive materials even at temperatures of -40°C to +105°C. TPE is an extremely resistant material especially suitable for applications in the area of milk processing.

New variants

New variants are immediately available in addition to the existing M8x1- and M12x1-connection- and junction cables with 3 or 4 pins as well as straight or angled connectors. ESCHA, now, offers two PVC-cable qualities, LED-versions, and 5-pin versions.

The PVC-cable qualities P00 and P01 (UL-approved) are cost-effective alternatives to the previous TPE-cable qualities and are adapted for less demanding applications than e.g. milk processing.

The new LED-versions for M8x1 (2 LEDs) and M12x1 (2 or 3 LEDs) are available in angled housing styles. Connectors with LED are particularly suitable if the end device does not dispose of own display or is mounted in a hardly visible position within the facility. ESCHA connectors guarantee a clearly visible LED-display through their transparent overmold.

The 5-pin variants are exclusively available in the M12x1-housing style. For this reason, the connector geometry was modified in order to adapt the narrowly tapering connector body to larger cable cross sections.
