World Laughter Day Celebrations on Sunday May 7 2023

Dear Laughter Friends,

World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in May. This day is to build global awareness of health, happiness and world peace through laughter.

On this day, Laughter Club members and their friends and families gather in prominent squares and public parks to laugh together for world peace.

After grappling with COVID for nearly three years, we face a war-like situation impacting the global economy and leading to stress. Maintaining a positive mental state is a challenge, and laughter yoga helps.

Laughter Yoga's unconditional laughter can change our inner chemistry and make us feel happy. 10 to 15 minutes of laughter yoga exercises can reduce stress, strengthen your immune system, and keep your mind positive. Once people feel happy within, their perception of the outer world changes, and they contribute to world peace. We believe, "When you laugh, you change, and when you change, the whole world changes around you."

The Laughter Club movement started in Mumbai in 1995 and has spread to 120 countries worldwide. The universal language of laughter is one we can all understand without a language barrier. These free social laughter clubs connect people from different cultures and countries and provide a social network of caring and sharing people.

Apart from social laughter clubs, laughter yoga is also practised in companies, corporations, senior centres, schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, fitness centres, physically and mentally challenged organizations and prisons.

On this auspicious day, let us all stand for a minute and laugh heartily with our arms pointing skywards. We will send positive vibrations of love and peace into the world.

Science of Breathing: According to the yogic concept of breathing, your exhalation should be longer than your inhalation so that you can get rid of stale air from your lungs. Laughter as a exercise is a very effective way to exhale longer.
