MIndMeister's new opinion bar shows comments and votes on individual topics

Munich, December 16, 2014: After creating the first collaborative online mind mapping app in 2007, MeisterLabs, the company behind MindMeister, today released a new feature for its popular online tool that promises to bring the collaborative experience to a completely new level.

Just like in 2007, the developers of MindMeister got inspired by Google’s online text editor Google Docs, which enables users to collaboratively edit text in a document. MeisterLabs Managing Director Till Vollmer said, “We built MindMeister on the same principles as Google Docs, allowing for collaborative brainstorming sessions between an unlimited number of users. Until now, however, we were missing another one of Google Docs’ integral features: comments.”

The new commenting and voting feature enables MindMeister users to discuss individual topics in their mind maps and vote them up or down using a widget in the map editor’s sidebar. This ensures that the mind map content itself isn’t being altered, the canvas not cluttered up with opinions and feedback from collaborators.

“Mind maps offer the ideal format for visual collaboration within teams,” MeisterLabs Managing Director Till Vollmer explains. “Our goal has always been to provide users with the means to capture and exchange thoughts intuitively, to make planning and strategizing in a team as easy as possible. That’s why we created an online mind mapping tool that would allow for real-time brainstorming sessions in the first place. The new commenting and voting feature brings collaboration in MindMeister to a whole new level, though, comparable to the one of Google Docs.”

The feature is currently only available for MindMeister’s web solution, but updates for its iOS and Android apps will soon bring comments and votes to users’ smart phones and tablets.
