The PIA series piezoelectrical shock wave generators from piezosystem jena produce exact precise shock waves by the use of piezo technology. Pulsers and electronics produce exact precise shocks with accurate repeatabilty. Accelerations can be achieved as high as 500‘000 m/s². The specialized high dielectric piezo ceramics produce considerably higher energy rates than common piezo actuators. The energy level is increased by the use of seismic masses. Pulse energy reaches Joule values. Primary pulse and reflecteted pulses interfer together in a characteristic form of a double pulse profile.

The technical advantage of this technique is: the shock wave generator PIA and its partner are in contact the whole time before and after the impulse. Thus the PIA reaches highly reproduceable shock waves, where pulses can be triggered with the accurracy of 1 µs. The pulse front expands at the speed of sound, which is characteristic for this medium.
In addition piezoelectric shock wave generators have a high repeatability. By design, multiple 100 Hz can be reached.
Pulses can be triggered precisely in the µs-range. This allows to synchronize the pulse perfectly with other events e.g. other pulses.
