Management Simulations, Inc. Launches Student Evaluation

Northfield, Ill. — October 4, 2007 — Management Simulations, Inc.® (MSI®) today announced the launch of Comp-XM®, the Capstone Competency Exam. The patent pending, technology-based platform enables college and university professors to evaluate the business acumen and decision making skills of both undergraduate and graduate students.

Executed in conjunction with the Capstone® Business Simulation used by more than 550 universities across the globe to simulate a real-world business management experience, Comp-XM verifies learning and assesses judgment and analytical skills. Comp-XM takes Capstone to the individual level by enabling specific analysis of individual business skills. Utilizing both a business simulation plus short exam questions, Comp-XM gauges performance and diagnoses weaknesses. Comp-XM ensures that students are measured in a fair, secure and comprehensive manner.

“Assurance of learning or outcomes assessment is the one issue that has stood out to colleges and universities over the past year – consuming the time and attention of professors, chairs and deans,” says Management Simulations President and Founder Dan Smith. “The combination of the Capstone and Comp-XM technologies provides an engaging, standardized platform for individual evaluation. By testing for business acumen, professors and administrators are able to measure students' business knowledge and ability to execute what they have learned while providing a comprehensive review for grading.“

Comp-XM, a collaborative product involving schools and accrediting bodies, went through rigorous testing by university professors from top ranked business schools during its initial beta phase, which took place over 12 months. Those professors involved in testing learned that simulations engage individuals to work harder to arrive at the correct answers than traditional tests. Input from the thousands of participants along with their highly esteemed professors enabled MSI to improve the technology and launch Comp-XM to the broader educational marketplace.

Editor’s Note
Professors who have utilized various MSI products and/or beta tested Comp-XM are available for comment.
