Management Simulations Announces Call for College Students

NORTHFIELD, Ill., Oct. 1, 2007 – Management Simulations, Inc. (MSI®), the largest provider of business simulations to college graduate and undergraduate students, announces today its call for participants in the 14th Bi-Annual MSI Challenge – an online, global business competition scheduled to start Oct. 29, 2007.

During the two-week competition, individual students and teams are assigned simulated companies to lead – making business decisions from operations to marketing. These companies are placed in competitive markets where other student-led companies compete for the highest balanced scorecard using MSI’s advanced business simulation technology.

The MSI Challenge, an interactive and advanced method for teaching business methods, is designed for college students who registered for MSI’s Capstone® or Foundation® Business Simulation after Aug. 1, 2006, were enrolled in a two-year associate, four-year undergraduate, or graduate course and have not previously participated in a Challenge. Participants can register from the Fall 2007 Challenge link on the MSI website (www.capsim.com) either individually or as part of a school team. There is no cost to participate. Registration ends Oct. 26, 2007.

“Professors are always looking for ways to engage students. Business simulations provide interactivity, relevancy, competition and fun,” said Dan Smith, president of MSI and adjunct professor at DePaul University. “The MSI Challenge gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge to authentic operations and see how they rank against their peers. This is a unique learning experience that participants will remember for the rest of their lives.”

Students will compete in qualifying rounds from Oct. 29, 2007 to Nov. 8, 2007. The six teams with the highest balanced scorecard for the Capstone Challenge and the six teams with the highest balanced scorecard for the Foundation Challenge will move on to the Finals. Finals begin Nov. 9, 2007 and last through Nov. 11, 2007. In the Finals, the team with the highest balanced scorecard for each Challenge wins the competition, bragging rights to their schools and hefty credentials to their resumes. Winners will be announced on Nov. 12, 2007.

Brent Corbitt, under the tutelage of Dr. Nancy Landrum of University of Arkansas at Little Rock, won MSI’s Spring 2007 Capstone Challenge, while the team of Michael Ely, Christine Snyder and Christopher Scott Stanton, under the tutelage of Dr. Elene Kent of Capital University, won MSI’s Spring 2007 Foundation Challenge.
