Adventist-owned Northern Caribbean University to host Xaymaca

The Northern Caribbean University, an institution owned and operated by the Jamaica Union Conference and the Atlantic Caribbean Union Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, is scheduled to host its second cultural music concert, called Xaymaca 2.0, on March 9, 2023.

The Xaymaca celebrations have their roots in the African traditions brought to Jamaica. The festival is a way to celebrate and honor those traditions, and it is celebrated with much fanfare throughout Jamaica. This celebration parallels many of the other carnival celebrations, such as Carnival in Brazil and Mardi Gras in the United States, that take place around the time of Lent. Unfortunately, these worldly celebrations have been associated with revelry, drunkenness, sexuality, and a lot of music and dancing.

These kinds of traditions should have no part in the institutions that are supposed to reflect the character and culture of heaven. With their drumming, shouting, and dancing, many of today's festivals honoring culture and tradition share the very same characteristics found in pagan worship.

On March 10, 2023 we talked to Pastor Andrew Henriques about NCU's Xaymaca Cultural Festival. These displays are happening throughout Adventism because we are in the Omega of Apostasy. The good news is that there was a protest from the people. We praise the Lord for the small Remnant that will never bow their knees to this type of Baal worship.
