September 2014, Macau, China – Together with its regional project partner Creative Lighting Asia (CLA), A&O Technology organized recently a seminar to demonstrate the outstanding advantages and performance capabilities of the FALCON range. At the same time, the company presented the latest fruits of its plasma technology – Made in Germany.

In the Galaxy Hotel’s Oasis restaurant, Creative Lighting Asia had found the ideal setting in which to deliver a live professional presentation of the German-made FALCON range of luminaires to a high-calibre audience made up of representatives of the Asian market. The focus was upon the tried and tested xenon luminaires from A&O Technology. The prime objective of the seminar, to facilitate further progress in the Asian market through closer cooperation and the establishment of networks, was attained. The longstanding collaboration between Creative Lighting Asia and A&O Technology has been further strengthened by the fact that Andree Jahnel, for 10 years Senior Product Manager with A&O Technology, is now engaged as Technical Project Manager for the Asian concern and in a position therefore to intensify the continuous exchange. “We are delighted to have found a partner such as CLA,” adds Marco Niedermeier. “Each of us is of service to the other and we are confident that the excellent cooperation between our two companies will continue.”

CLA’s Marketing Manager Tim Bredbury delivered the opening address and introduced the various speakers. The first of these were Eddie Tang, Managing Director CLA, and Marco Niedermeier, CEO A&O Technology, who offered a brief outline of the cooperation between the two firms. Next came A&O Technology’s Senior Manager International Sales, Maros Kohut, who described the two companies’ joint sales concept, which is based on a regional project partnership. Andree Jahnel, Technical Project Manager CLA, and Oliver Ronshausen, Senior Product Manager A&O Technology, then elucidated various aspects of the lighting systems and their underlying technologies.

For demonstration purposes, the static architectural luminaires FALCON STATIC ARC white and FALCON STATIC ARC colour as well as the moving head FALCON BEAM ARC colour were installed on the presentation stage. Building on the success of its 3,000- to 7,000-watt FALCON series, the German company presented the revolutionary new FALCON SPELIA Arc series. This versatile washer, which employs sulphur-plasma technology, was being seen for the first time in Asia following its launch at this year’s Light + Building show in Frankfurt.

“This was not simply a product seminar,” stressed Marco Niedermeier. “What was far more important is that we were able to consolidate the fine relationship between our two companies. The close collaboration demonstrated to our high-calibre guests from within the industry that we act in a future- and customer-oriented way. The highly positive response we received convinced us that the evening was a great success, providing us with the ideal springboard to move ahead and sound out new projects.”

The renowned lighting designer and theatrical pedagogue Professor John A. Williams then gave a detailed report on his design concept for the Galaxy light show, in which for a number of years FALCON xenon luminaires have featured prominently. After a career spanning over 30 years as a lighting designer, Prof. Williams can look back on over 250 lighting projects. His works are scattered far and wide, from London’s West End to Hong Kong, Broadway and Macau. Dean of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Prof. Williams’ work in Asia includes the design of the world-famous Symphony of Lights in Hong Kong harbour, the world’s largest installed light show.

The seminar was conceived as a mixture of lectures and interactive presentations. The functions were demonstrated to the guests at the devices themselves. The light show that followed illustrated the brilliance and luminosity of the searchlights. The invited designers, specifiers, planners and architects followed the presentations with the greatest interest. The direct contact with these specialists led to interesting exchanges throughout the event. “The seminar provided us with an excellent opportunity to make not only our partner CLA but also other movers and shakers within the Asian market more familiar with the FALCON products,” said Oliver Ronshausen, Senior Product Manager A&O Technology: “This seminar confirmed me in the view that hands-on experience is far more convincing than dry theory. There was no mistaking the enthusiasm of our guests as they witnessed a live demonstration of the devices in operation. Naturally these our now at the disposal of Creative Lighting’s sales offices.”

The equipping of the much-loved Galaxy Laserama light show in the Galaxy Casino, Macau, is a joint project of the two companies Creative Lighting Asia and A&O Technology. During the first phase, in the years 2010 and 2011, eight FALCON BEAM ARC white 8,000W searchlights were delivered for the roofs of the first two buildings and a FALCON STATIC ARC white 7,000W for the pylon at the front. Following the popularity of what must be the world’s largest open-air laser and light show—certainly there is nothing like it in the region – a further twenty-eight FALCON BEAM ARC colour 4,000W and 7,000W fixtures were ordered for Phase Two this year. These have been installed on the roof of the third building complex, which is new, further enhancing the gigantic spectacle.
