Press release from: Knürr AG

/ PR Agency: WA Hochleiter GmbH
Arnstorf [September 2007] – Knürr will be represented again this year at productronica, the global flagship trade fair of the electronics industry, which is held in Munich in November. As a premiere, this highly specialized company will present the electronics workstation of the future, which is a modular system that effortlessly adjusts to the changing technical requirements of the IT and electronics industry.

A high standard of flexibility is increasingly expected by employees.
Rapid reaction to current developments is particularly important in laboratories and research departments, and workstations must meet these demands and be expandable as required, or be easily reconfigured. Knürr Technical Furniture is only too familiar with this challenge and has developed a solution that “grows with requirements”. The workstation is integrated here into an overall concept, which can be extended as required in the building block principle.

The first stage begins with Elicon (C-foot) or Dacobas (4-foot), Knürr’s two basic workstation models. Both workstation systems have an integrated cable duct for power and data cables for accepting electrical components and socket strips.

In the second stage the workstations can be extended with a small distributor setup for a number of small electrical components and upgraded at any time. Electrical components up to an installation depth of 91 mm can be very easily integrated in the horizontal pitch raster (HP). Modules such as light switches, power supply fields, ESD module, RJ45 module, FI switch, circuit breakers and sockets of different standards can be easily upgraded or changed using integrated T-slots. The superstructures correspond, of course, with modern ergonomic requirements and can be mounted at an angle of ± 5 degrees. Data lines are separated mechanically, safe from the current-carrying cables. The small distributor also proves to be very service-friendly with its folding mechanism.

In the third configuration stage the workstations are extended vertically with the Rapomos system, above, over the worktop surface. These are fully functional and pre-wired in the factory with standard connection options. The user no longer has to open this Rapomos system, but rather can connect it to the network with the integrated GST18 plug. The advantage for the user is obvious, given that they now have completely conductive instruments for measuring and working with in a completely ESD version.
Rapomos from Knürr can be equipped with modules such as mains isolating transformer, mains power supply field, pressure regulator, frequency counter, function generator, digital multimeter and DC/AC power supply. “With devices from an installation depth of 91 mm and, of course, with 19” components, you need the Rapomos setup” explains Product Manager Herbert Neudert. The integrated air circulation also ensures a longer lifespan for the installed devices.

“A huge advantage over other providers on the market is the fact that Knürr has long-standing years of expertise in industrial metal processing and installing standardized components”, is how Gerhard Buchbauer, General Manager at Knürr Technical Furniture GmbH, sums it up.

Knürr Technical Furniture’s many years of competence and expertise are primarily in the area of planning, producing and installing electronics and ESD workstations.

Knürr also produces its workstation systems exclusively in Germany. The area of application ranges from schools and universities, to laboratory workstations in the pharmaceutical and chemicals industry, through to test stands in automotive companies and the electronics industry. Customers that have been with Knürr for many years include Siemens, Infineon and Rohde&Schwarz, among others. They all appreciate Knürr expertise!
