Once again the Blickachsen Sculpture Biennale invites visitors to a multifacetted experience of art in the open air. The Blickachsen 13 exhibition will run from 14 May to 1 October 2023. The traditional opening ceremony will be on Sunday 14 May at 11.30am on the Schmuckplatz in the Bad Homburg Kurpark.

A new Blickachsen, at last! From 1997 until 2019 the Blickachsen exhibitions were regularly held every two years. Since then, the pandemic has meant Blickachsen fans have had to be patient. Now the Biennale is back, with a new 2023 edition building on the huge public success of Blickachsen 12.

Freely accessible in the historic park landscapes of Bad Homburg (Germany), the Blickachsen exhibitions have become a destination for art lovers and professionals from all over the world, and at the same time have enriched the daily experience of all those who happen to pass the art works on display on a stroll through the parks.

Blickachsen 13 once again places the focus on the interplay of art, nature and the public space. And once again, the most varied works by younger artists from home and abroad will stand alongside those of the most illustrious names in contemporary sculpture. "I am only too happy that in 2023 we will again be able to invite visitors to an exciting, top-class exhibition", says Christian K. Scheffel, founder and curator of the Biennale, and director of the Blickachsen Foundation. "Our preparations are in full swing, and we are all looking forward immensely to Blickachsen 13."

Scheffel curates each new Blickachsen exhibition together with a different prestigious partner museum. The partner museum for 2023 will be announced shortly. The organizer of the Biennale, of which the Minister President of the State of Hessen, Boris Rhein, has taken on the patronage, is the non-profit Blickachsen Foundation, together with the City of Bad Homburg, the Kur- und Kongreß-GmbH, and the Public Stately Homes and Gardens Administration in Hessen. This ambitious international project has been made possible through the generous support of private and institutional sponsors.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an extensive eductional programme and a variety of publications. Further information on this will be available well before the exhibition opens. Detailed information on Blickachsen 1-12 is available on our website www.blickachsen.com

About the Blickachsen Foundation
The public benefit Blickachsen Foundation, with its seat in Bad Homburg, Germany, was established in March 2013 to oversee the Blickachsen Sculpture Biennale, which it organizes together with the municipality of Bad Homburg, the Kur- und Kongreß-GmbH and the Administration of the Public Stately Homes and Gardens in Hessen. The foundation's aim is to secure the long-term future of the Biennale, and to provide access to contemporary sculpture and installation art to an ever-growing audience in the public space. At the same time, the foundation seeks to promote the evolving cultural attraction of the city of Bad Homburg and the further Rhine-Main region, and to establish the region over time as an international centre for contemporary sculpture. In offering, every two years, a platform for exhibiting the work of both young and established artists from around the world, the foundation seeks both to promote emerging artistic talent, and to heighten popular interest in and appreciation of the most varied currents in three-dimensional art. A lively encounter with contemporary sculpture is stimulated by the diverse range of Blickachsen tours and workshops for children, young people and adults. In addition, the foundation sees itself as a mediator and point of intersection between cultural and educational institutions, supporting the dialogue between artists and museums, as well as between art and scholarship.
