RAANDESK® PRESENTS “MISCELLANY”

Diverse group show at MFA in Jersey City focuses on emerging artists

New York, NY – The Raandesk® Gallery of Art in conjunction with Mana Fine Arts Exhibition Space present “Miscellany” – a group show featuring an array of emerging artists in various mediums including sculpture, painting, drawing and photography. Highlighted artists are Jason Bryant, Carla E. Reyes, Raphael Sassi, Laura Salierno, Jennie Barrese, Matt Kern and Alan Waters.

This diversity of work is difficult to capture in one exhibition. New paintings by Jason Bryant, whose cropped portraiture of cinematic visions have been intriguing art collectors and film connoisseurs for years, will be shown along side the organic works from Carla E. Reyes, whose unique sculptural painting style is expressed in materials from the environment including sand, dried plant materials, twigs, moss and straw. In the drawing category, Raphael Sassi focuses on his site-specific portraiture of subway riders – engaging the viewer and grounding their experience of city life. Photographer Laura Salierno will be showing pieces from her Plaza Hotel series, while Jennie Barrese's abstract digital photography presents sinuous designs and flowing colors. Matt Kern's original photographic pieces utilize polaroids applied to canvases, which Kern then etches or paints over so the various polaroids are unified into one large or small image of color, words or familiar imagery. Also highlighted is Manchester, England based sculptor Alan Waters, who is debuting his small-scale steel sculptors.
