Oil & Gas Leaders meet in Erbil to discuss international

Gert Meinecke, Danish Ambassador to Iraq, met with Minister Falah Mustafa from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and other officials from the Department of Foreign Relations in the KRG this week, to announce that Danish companies will be participating in the progress and development of the Kurdistan Region.

Kurdistan’s recent achievements in its oil industry have turned the region into an economic hub for global oil companies including Exxon-Mobil, Total, and Chevron. With more appealing fiscal terms for oil field contracts, Kurdistan is an attractive investment for major players in the global oil and gas industry. Prime Minister of Kurdistan, H.E. Nechirvan Barzani, welcomed investment from the global market at last year’s annual Kurdistan-Iraq Oil & Gas Conference; “Here I would like to thank in my name and on behalf of the KRG, the oil and gas companies working in the Kurdistan Region who, with full confidence have come here and invested with their own capital to search for oil”.

Leaders from the global oil and gas industry will come together at the CWC Group’s Kurdistan-Iraq Oil & Gas Conference, an annual event in the region that is fully supported by the Kurdistan Regional and Iraqi Governments. It is recognised as the essential meeting place for the industry, and gathers leaders from across the globe to discuss strategies to expedite the oil & gas industry in Kurdistan.

The 2013 edition of the Conference, to be held on 1-4 December 2013 at the Saad Palace Convention Centre in Erbil, will be opened by keynote ministerial addresses from the Prime Minister of Kurdistan, H.E. Nechirvan Barzani and Minister of Natural Resources, H.E. Dr Ashti Hawrami, in a session titled ‘Kurdistan-Iraq: A Model for Iraq’s Economic Recovery?’. Both are expected to address the successes of the oil industry in Kurdistan, further investment strategies to enhance oil production and how the oil industry has helped to build the financial economy in Kurdistan-Iraq.

Further key sessions to be discussed include: Fostering Oil & Gas Reserves in the Kurdistan Region; E&P Projects & Future Plans; Accelerating Oil & Gas Development Projects to Fuel the Economy; Enhancing Upstream Investment in the Oil & Gas Industry; and Corporate Social Responsibility & Human Capital Development.
