Dr. Charity Campbell-Kapela, selected for a prestigious 10-week English Language Specialist project in Iraqi Kurdistan, empowering museum guides with advanced English skills and cultural intelligence to enhance the region's tourism industry.
The U.S. Department of State has announced the selection of Dr. Charity Campbell-Kapela, a North Carolina-based Cultural Intelligence Consultant and seasoned educator, for a 10-week English Language Specialist project in Iraqi Kurdistan. This initiative focuses on empowering museum guides in the tourism and hospitality industry with advanced English language skills and culturally intelligent communication strategies.
Dr. Campbell-Kapela is part of an elite group of professionals, as her project is one of approximately 240 supported annually by the English Language Specialist Program.
With over 20 years of global teaching experience across 30+ countries, Dr. Campbell-Kapela brings a wealth of expertise in English as a Foreign Language (EFL), cross-cultural communication, and curriculum design. She holds a Doctor of Management in Global Leadership and specializes in fostering cultural competence and sustainable educational practices. During this project, she will design and deliver a specialized curriculum to enhance the communication skills of museum guides, helping to elevate the region's tourism sector.
The English Language Specialist Program, administered by the U.S. Department of State, is a premier initiative for leaders in the TESOL field to implement meaningful changes in English education worldwide. These projects, developed by U.S. Embassies, foster international partnerships, build educational capacity, and enhance mutual understanding between the United States and host countries.
Since 1991, the program has supported in-country, virtual, and mixed projects that enable TESOL experts to collaborate with educational leaders and ministries of education, making a lasting impact on communities worldwide.
