Technical Foam Services Invests in Flash Cutting for Faster Prototyping

Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (10th September, 2013) - Technical Foam Services Ltd, a leading independent engineering-based manufacturer and foam producer, has invested in a new Flash Cutting knife-operated table to provide clients with a faster prototyping service.

To date, Technical Foam Services' samples have been despatched within a couple of days, which has been recognised as a fast turnaround time achievable due to their internal engineering department. This new £75,000 machine eradicates the need to set up die-tooling, thereby saving precious hours and often resulting in samples being sent out the same day.

Flash Cutting knife-operated tables were originally produced for the fabric-cutting industry, but on-going engineering development work has enabled the machine to be able to cut foam up to 130mm thick. This opens up an extensive range of commercial opportunities in the acoustic and packaging markets, in which Technical Foam Services are already recognised as the UK's number one foam converter. For on-going production, the nesting capability of the cutting process helps improve component yield and reduce wastage, both key factors in foam production.
