Thompson & Knight Attorneys Elected to State Bar of Texas Pattern Jury Charge Committees
Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce that Molly Steele and Scott P. Stolley have been elected to serve on Pattern Jury Charge Committees for the State Bar of Texas. Steele will serve on the Pattern Jury Charges – Oversight Committee, and Stolley will serve on the Pattern Jury Charges – Business, Consumer, and Employment Committee.The mission of the Pattern Jury Charges – Oversight Committee is to set appropriate policies and standards, to act as an oversight and coordinating committee for the Pattern Jury Charge Committees, and to concern itself with the study and creation of the form of charges submitted for publication. The membership of the Committee consists of two ex-officio members of the Texas Supreme Court as designated by the Supreme Court, a balance of district and appellate court judges, and a balance of lawyers with demonstrated expertise in the various areas of practice, including plaintiffs and defense lawyers, and general member appointments.
The mission of the Pattern Jury Charge – Business, Consumer, and Employment Committee is to prepare and periodically revise pattern jury charges for common law and statutory claims encountered in consumer, insurance, business, commercial, and employment litigation. The Committee consists of a balance of judges, plaintiffs, and defense lawyers with demonstrated expertise in the various areas of practice under review by the Committee.
Steele is a Partner in Thompson & Knight’s Trial Practice Group and has more than 30 years of experience representing clients primarily in the area of business litigation. She focuses her practice on international litigation and international arbitration between citizens of different countries, class actions, covenants not to compete, misappropriation of trade secrets, trademark/trade dress infringement, real estate litigation, probate litigation, contract actions, and commercial mortgage-backed securitizations.
Stolley is also a Partner in the Firm’s Trial Practice Group and focuses his practice on the representation of appellants and appellees in state and federal appellate courts, including the evaluation of appeals, drafting briefs, and arguing to appellate courts. Stolley’s practice also includes evaluating insurance-coverage issues for policyholders. He has more than 25 years of legal experience and is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
