Real Digital Twins for O&M in China & abroad

Press release from: Siveco China

Siveco Group is known as a front-runner in digital innovations for maintenance since the mid-1980s. Unsurprisingly, the company was also among the first, perhaps the very first, to utilize BIM (Building Information Modeling) for maintenance purposes. Early research started by Siveco China in 2011 led to the development of standard products, part of the Coswin 8i and bluebee® suites, which have been deployed to many clients' sites all over the world. This article explores some of our customers projects combining the use of BIM and IoT to form true Digital Twins that are used for the day-to-day management of maintenance.

- CNOOC Headquarters building

In 2016, CNOOC proposed to study the development of a building assets integrity management platform based on BIM data for its new state-of-the-art headquarter building in Beijing. The Chinese oil giant selected the bluebee® cloud platform with BIM integration. The integrated platform provides facilities and equipment structure, contract management, work management, integration with other systems and so on, making up for the deficiency of the BIM database in terms of operational data in BIM database and meeting CNOOC's demands for daily operation.

- O∙PARK1 waste-to-energy plant in Hong Kong

Hong Kong's first organic waste treatment facility selected the Coswin 8i maintenance system. Siveco China managed the preparation of the technical database during the construction of this 200 tons-per-day waste-to-energy plant. The system was up-and-running in time for startup in 2018. Although the BIM model was initially not coordinated with build-up of the maintenance database, it was later incorporated using the bluebee® portal, allowing access to and from the 3D model, directly linked to all maintenance data and records.

- Hong Kong San Wai Sewage Treatment Works

Siveco China delivered a state-of-the-art Integrated Smart O&M solution for San Wai Sewage Treatment Works (SWSTW) in Hong Kong. The scope of the Coswin 8i + bluebee® implementation covers BIM for asset management, mobile solution, large touchscreen displays and enhanced SCADA-CMMS integration, in line with requirements of the ISO 55000 standard. The system went live for plant startup in January 2021.

- Goglio (Tianjin) Packaging

Goglio is a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging solutions for the food industry. Siveco China assists in the standardization of its maintenance processes in compliance with ISO 55000 and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), a systematic preventive approach to food safety. The implementation covers the existing GTP factory, as well as the new state-of-the-art plant currently under construction, for which 3D BIM model and its data are embedded into the bluebee® cloud platform.

- Chongqing Water

In 2021, Siveco China launched a cooperation project with Chongqing Sino French Environmental Protection's innovation center to develop a BIM for O&M platform to be deployed in water treatment plants of Chongqing Water Group. From this platform, users of the Digital Twin 3D BIM can view real time data and directly access the maintenance system. Conversely, from the maintenance system, users can see the BIM model (3D graphics and all data) of the target object, directly in the equipment or work order screen, to help perform their day-to-day operations. This feature becomes useful for the preparation of complex, infrequent maintenance work involving multiple parties, to identify access constraints and to review safety isolation procedures.

- Organica Water India

In 2021, Organica Water partnered with Siveco China to deliver Digital Twin solutions for the Operation & Maintenance of wastewater treatment plants. The solution integrates the plant's 3D BIM model and real-time data from the SCADA, both designed by Organica, into Siveco China's Smart O&M platform. The solution is currently being implemented for three greenfield wastewater treatment facilities located in the Uttar Pradesh State in India, under the National Mission for Clean Ganga's (NMCG) Hybrid Annuity Model PPP project.

- SNCF Hubs & Connections (France)

SNCF Hubs & Connections manages around 3,000 railway stations in France. System integrator CS has worked with Siveco Group to deploy the Coswin 8i maintenance management system integrated with Building Information Models (BIM) and Connected Objects (IoT). Technicians are equipped with mobile devices allowing them to perform work orders whether they are online or offline.

Siram Veolia Industry & Building (Italy)

Siram Veolia is a joint-venture company providing utility services to industrial and real estate clients in Italy. In 2019 the company selected Siveco Group to implement the Coswin 8i solution "thanks to the predisposition of Coswin 8i for IoT and BIM, on which Veolia is pushing a lot" according to the client. The project was implemented successfully during the Covid-19 lockdown, with a strong on mobility for technicians.

The Future of Operation & Maintenance
The Future of Operation & Maintenance
Media hype has led us to believe that technology would soon revolutionize maintenance. Dreams of flying robots, video game-like smart glasses, flashing digital twins, often hold the sad promise of getting rid of maintenance people altogether. The reality remains that the more automated, the more sophisticated the systems, the more demands are put on maintenance people and their skills. The problem is compounded when this glorious technology did not address
