New hydraulic tester sets standards in fluid power applications

With the PPC-04-Plus, Stauff is debuting the latest generation of hand-held hydraulic testers for the precise determination of pressure, temperature, flow rate, frequency and speed in mobile and industrial hydraulic systems at this year’s Hanover and Bauma trade fairs. Applications for the PPC-04-Plus include in particular the commissioning, on-going maintenance and optimisation of machines and facilities as well as the process of isolating and identifying potential sources of errors and vulnerabilities.

The successor of the proven PPC-04 device is available either with two inputs for analogue sensors or with a CAN interface for connecting up to three digital sensors. Both versions provide automatic sensor recognition, thus making the tedious and often time-consuming parameterization of sensors redundant. Among other things, the CAN sensors offer the advantage of lower susceptibility to interference due to digital data transmission – despite a maximum cable length of up to 50 meters. As a result, physical distances are no longer a real obstacle to precise machine and system monitoring.

The Stauff storage strategy, which has been developed over several generations of the equipment, is based on the determination of minimum and maximum values. The measurement value memory integrated in the device – which, by the way, can be easily extended by up to 4 gigabytes using a standard USB memory stick – documents e.g. pressure peaks and drops, thus facilitating error analysis in hydraulic systems. Using the USB port and the included software, measurement values can be easily read and transferred to the PC, where they can be displayed, analysed and further processed. In this way, individual device configurations can also be viewed and managed.

Due to its extremely robust construction and its oil-resistant rubber coating, the hydraulic tester can withstand impacts, vibration, dust and moisture (protection class up to IP67) and is designed for use in particularly harsh conditions. Even in low light situations, measured values can still be read quickly and reliably from the multi-line, backlit LCD display.
