EFET and CEOs of large energy traders to discuss pressing issues

More than 850 energy trading professionals will gather at the upcoming EMART Energy 2012 from 21-22 November in Amsterdam, at the 14th edition of what is regarded as Europe’s largest and leading platform for energy traders.

According to Nel Jonk, the EMART Energy programme director, the European energy market is undergoing huge changes and is rapidly developing new rules. She continues: “with the nuclear exits in Germany and renewables becoming bigger, we have to look into the question how they can be integrated in the wholesale market. And which other types of plant will underpin baseload supply in the future and whether there will be a larger role for gas.”

She explains furthermore that the industry is still very concerned about financial regulatory and market supervisory burdens, which last year’s EMART Energy delegates indicated as being the biggest threat to the health of the wholesale power market.

The EMART Energy programme director says the event presents the industry with a unique opportunity to get together and discuss how all these trends and changes will affect energy trading in Europe. Says Nel Jonk: “our EMART Energy trader’s panel will share their perspectives on the European energy transition and Paul van Son who was the founder and chairman of EFET for 14 years will handover to Paul Dawson, Head of Regulatory Affairs of RWE Supply & Trading and the new EFET Chairman.”
